WoW Forever FAQ
The questions players ask ForeverDB most, each answered once, clearly, with its sources: the game client's data, Blizzard's posts, or players' reports (labelled Speculation). Answers are checked again when a new beta build lands.
Classes & talents
What's the best race for a Rogue in WoW Forever?
It depends on your faction and spec. ForeverDB's best race for each class lists the picks, and every racial is on the races page. Forever reworked most racials, so Classic advice does not carry over.
Alliance:
- Human: Ruthless adds a flat 2% critical strike chance to all spells and attacks (no longer sword only), Will to Survive instantly breaks all stuns, and Perception spots stealthed enemies for 20 sec.
- Night Elf: Quickness makes you harder to detect in Stealth and adds 1% dodge with 2% movement speed, Elune's Light adds 10% critical strike chance for 15 sec, and Shadowmeld is a second way to drop out of sight.
- Gnome: Eureka! makes your non-periodic damaging abilities cost 10% less Energy and deal 10% more damage for 8 sec, and Escape Artist frees you from snares and roots.
Horde:
- Orc: Blood Fury raises Attack Power and Spell Power by 10% for 15 sec, Hardiness shortens stuns by 20%, and Savage adds a flat 1% critical strike chance with all attacks (Rogues can use axes in Forever).
- Undead: Will of the Forsaken removes Charm, Fear and Sleep, and Touch of the Grave drains a little Health as you hit.
- Troll: Berserking raises attack and casting speed by 10%, and Rapid Regeneration restores half your Health over 6 sec out of combat.
No race is uniquely best for a Rogue; pick for your spec and whether you PvP.

Yes. Cloth is the only armour type Priests can equip in Forever, so every cloth piece fits them, at every slot. They cannot wear leather, mail or plate.
For weapons, Priests use one-handed maces, staves, daggers and wands, and they cannot use shields.
The full breakdown is on the Priest class page.

Speculation: Calling it the best rests on ForeverDB's gear scoring, not Blizzard, and other rings may suit depending on spec and what you can obtain.
A strong caster ring for a level 20 Mage is Lorekeeper's Ring, a rare ring usable from level 18. It gives +2 Stamina, +5 Spell Power and restores 2 mana every 5 seconds.
The +5 Spell Power is the draw: it lifts Fireball, Frostbolt and Arcane Missiles at a level where spell power is hard to come by. See the Mage class page for the rest of a level 20 caster set.
Sources: Lorekeeper's Ring · Mage in WoW Forever · checked on build 1.60.1.70532How much damage does Mutilate do and when do Rogues get it?
Yes, Rogues can learn Mutilate at level 30, the current beta cap. It is a new Assassination talent in Forever (tier 5) and was not in Classic Era's Rogue tree.
Rank 1, from the Forever client: instantly attacks with both weapons for 75% weapon damage plus 17 with each weapon, with the damage increased by 20% against poisoned targets, and it awards 2 combo points. It costs 60 Energy. There are higher ranks at levels 40, 50 and 60, but those are above the current cap.
Our Rogue levelling guide notes that in the client Mutilate needs a dagger in each hand, even though its tooltip doesn't say so, so keep your second-best dagger for the off hand if you level Assassination.

Defense is a passive combat skill every character has, shown as Defense in the client. A higher Defense Skill lowers the chance enemies hit or critically hit you and raises your block, dodge and parry, which is why it matters most to tanks.
Two Protection talents raise it in Forever, both named Anticipation and both now at Protection tier 2. The Paladin's Anticipation and the Warrior's Anticipation each add 20 Defense Skill at max rank, up from 10 in Classic Era. The Warrior build leans on Anticipation as its main passive Defense once talented.
Sources: Defense · Anticipation (Paladin) · Anticipation (Warrior) · checked on build 1.60.1.70532Which racial is the best in WoW Forever?
There is no single best racial; it depends on your class and whether you PvP. ForeverDB's best race for each class has the picks, and every racial is on the races page. Forever changed most racials from Classic.
Some that stand out in the client:
- Orc Blood Fury: +10% Attack Power and Spell Power for 15 sec.
- Troll Berserking: +10% attack and casting speed until cancelled.
- Gnome Eureka!: your non-periodic damaging abilities cost 10% less Energy and deal 10% more damage.
- Will to Survive (Human) removes all stuns and Will of the Forsaken (Undead) removes Charm, Fear and Sleep, which matters most in PvP.
What does the Paladin's Holy Strike do and when do you learn it?
Holy Strike is a melee strike every Paladin trains at level 6. It is instant, costs a little mana and has a 10 second cooldown, so it is your main damage and threat button while levelling.
It hits for a share of your weapon damage plus a set amount of Holy damage, and both grow with each rank. Rank 1 does 25% weapon damage plus 10 to 14 Holy; the linked Rank 3 does 32% plus 17 to 21 (learned at level 20); the top Rank 8 reaches 50% weapon damage plus 81 to 105 Holy at level 60. There are eight ranks in all, trained from level 6 to 60.
Every spec has a talent built around it: Holy Power in Holy, Iron Creed in Protection and Sacred Arbiter in Retribution. Iron Creed (Protection, from level 35) raises Holy Strike's threat by 25% and, while Righteous Fury is up, makes it cut your damage taken by 10% for 6 seconds, so it anchors Paladin tanking.

Where do I get the Venomtail Antidote for the Need for a Cure quest?
You get it from Kor'ghan in Orgrimmar. Need for a Cure is a Horde quest in Durotar, picked up from Rhinag near the zone's north-western border (about 41.5, 18.6) from level 7.
Rhinag has been stung by a venomtail, so head to Orgrimmar and find Kor'ghan in the Cleft of Shadow for the Venomtail Antidote, then race it back to Rhinag. It is a timed quest (about 45 minutes), so do not detour.
Handing in lets you pick Light Scorpid Armor or a Charging Buckler, plus Orgrimmar and Darkspear Trolls reputation.
Sources: Need for a Cure · Venomtail Antidote · checked on build 1.60.1.70532Is there a Rogue levelling guide for Forever?
Yes. ForeverDB has a full Leveling a Rogue to 30 guide built from the Forever beta client: which race to pick, every ability by level, what to press on one or several enemies, class quests, gear and dungeons, and the mistakes new Rogues make.
For talents, the Rogue builds page has level 20 and level 30 levelling builds for all three trees (Combat, Assassination and Subtlety), with the reason for every point and a talent calculator. Combat is the most forgiving to level with: any one-handed weapon works and you don't need to stand behind the mob.
Everything Forever changed for Rogues is on the Rogue changes page.

Mankrik's wife is the Beaten Corpse, found out among the quilboar in The Barrens at about 49, 50 (seen in Forever), south of The Crossroads.
You get the quest Lost in Battle from Mankrik at The Crossroads (52.0, 31.6). Find her body, then return to him.
Mankrik gives two other quests at the same spot: Consumed by Hatred, for 60 Bristleback Quilboar Tusks, and the Forever-new Her Name Is Olgra, where you gather 4 of Olgra's Adornments from quilboar for his memorial.

The beta cap is 30, raised from 20 with the build after the 1 October maintenance. Our level 1 to 30 route lists the zones, towns, flight masters and dungeons for every race, Alliance and Horde.
- Alliance: finish your starting zone to about 10, then Westfall, Loch Modan or Darkshore (10-20), then Ashenvale, the Wetlands and Duskwood (20-30), with Redridge, Stonetalon and Hillsbrad to fill gaps.
- Horde: finish your starting zone to about 12, then Silverpine Forest or The Barrens (10-20), then Ashenvale (20-30), with Stonetalon, Hillsbrad and Thousand Needles alongside.
There is no level scaling, so follow the zone order and move on when most of the quests left in your log turn green.

Speculation: This quest is Classic Era data and has not yet been confirmed live in the Forever beta client.
Wanted! Marez Cowl is a level 39 Alliance quest in Arathi Highlands, and you can pick it up from level 30.
It starts at the Wanted Board near Refuge Pointe (about 46.0, 47.8). Kill the elite Marez Cowl for Marez's Head, then hand it in to Captain Nials at Refuge Pointe (about 45.8, 47.6).
The reward is Arcane Runed Bracers (mail-free cloth wrist, item level 39). Marez Cowl is an elite, so bring a group or over-level him.

Who is Mutanus the Devourer and where do I fight him?
Mutanus the Devourer is the final boss of Wailing Caverns, the dungeon in The Barrens (you can enter from level 10, with level 17 recommended). He is the eighth and last boss, reached after Verdan the Everliving.
His abilities:
- Thundercrack: Nature damage to everyone nearby, stunning them for 2.5 sec.
- Naralex's Nightmare: puts a non-tank to sleep for up to 15 sec; any damage wakes them.
- Terrify: fears a random target for 4 sec.
Keep the group close together for the healer, and save a crowd-control or dispel for the sleep.

Protector's Chain Shirt is a rare Mail chest, item level 20, usable from level 15. It is new in Forever.
It is a crafted item: Blacksmiths make it with the recipe Protector's Chain Shirt. In the client's gearing data it is a chest pick for a Protection Paladin around levels 15 to 21.

Linen Cloth is a common cloth that drops from humanoid enemies. It is the first tailoring and first-aid cloth, so you want plenty of it early on.
It is a world drop from low-level humanoids across the starting zones and early quest areas, and it also turns up in chests and other containers. You can buy it from other players on the auction house too. Every creature known to drop it is listed on the item page.
Sources: Linen Cloth · checked on build 1.60.1.70532How do I get Strange Dust in WoW Forever?
The main way is disenchanting. If you have Enchanting, disenchant the common (white) and uncommon (green) armour and weapons you pick up while levelling from about level 5 to 25, and most of them yield Strange Dust. It is the lowest tier of enchanting dust.
You can also buy it. Nine Enchanting Supplies vendors stock small amounts, listed in full on Strange Dust; if you don't have Enchanting yourself, the auction house is usually the quickest source.
It is used in early bracer, boot and weapon enchants, and in Forever's new Dust to Motes recipe.

Makaru, the Mining Trainer, is in Orgrimmar at about 73, 26. Horde players learn Mining there and upgrade the skill as they level, including the smelting that turns ore into bars.

How do I add the ForeverDB bot to my Discord server?
It's free. Open the Discord bot page and press Add to Discord, then pick your server and press Authorize. You need the Manage Server permission on that server; if you don't have it, ask the owner or an admin to add it.
Once it's in, type a slash command in any channel, for example /item Shadowfang or /spell Fireball, and the bot replies with a tooltip-style card and a link to its ForeverDB page. /help lists everything.
It can also post new articles, Blizzard's posts and datamine finds to a channel (/news subscribe), run the group finder and carry your guild's calendar. Full steps are on How to add the bot.
Is Love is in the Air in WoW Forever, and when does it run?
