Players' addons report Vikki Lonsav's thrown weapons sold far cheaper than the client lists

On 12 October two players' ForeverDB addons saw the vendor Vikki Lonsav selling six thrown weapons for a tiny fraction of the price in the beta client, from over 2 gold down to 7 silver. Blizzard hasn't posted anything about it.

Player reports, not confirmed by Blizzard. The lower prices below are what players' ForeverDB addons saw at the vendor in the game on 12 October, not datamined client data and not a Blizzard post. The beta client still lists the old, higher prices, and Blizzard hasn't announced a change.

Two players (one with an account) uploaded the same thing on 12 October: the weapon vendor Vikki Lonsav was selling six thrown weapons for far less than the beta client's files say they cost. Our addon records the buy price it sees at a vendor and compares it to the client; where the two disagree, it flags a change seen in game. All six reports landed on the same day.

What players' addons saw

The buy price the addons read at the vendor, next to the price stored in the beta client:

Each report was seen by 2 players (1 with an account) across 2 uploads, all on 12 October.

What the client lists

In the beta client's files these are the six basic thrown weapons from this part of the level range: Keen Throwing Knife and Sharp Throwing Axe require level 11, Heavy Throwing Dagger and Deadly Throwing Axe require level 22, and Gleaming Throwing Axe and Wicked Throwing Dagger require level 35. Thrown weapons go in the ranged slot and are used by Warriors, Hunters and Rogues. The prices the addons saw group neatly by tier: the level 11 pair at 68c, the level 22 pair at 1s 80c, and the level 35 pair at 7s 20c.

Vendor buy prices are set on Blizzard's servers, so a change like this would come from a hotfix rather than a new client build. That fits what the addons saw: the in-game price moved while the client's stored price did not.

Speculation. Why the prices would drop this far is not stated anywhere we track. It isn't to make restocking cheap: thrown weapons aren't used up like ammunition (in the client they are single items that don't stack, unlike arrows). Any reason would be a guess, not something Blizzard has said. We can't rule out a data quirk at the vendor either.

At this vendor we've only seen two uploads on one day, but players' addons saw the same cut at other vendors between 7 and 13 October, for example Trak'gen at the same prices and Eleanor Rusk, so it looks like one change across vendors rather than a one-off. We'll update this page if more players confirm it, if the client's prices change in a later build, or if Blizzard posts about it. Everything new in the game files is on the datamine page.
