About ForeverDB

ForeverDB is an independent database and toolkit for World of Warcraft: Forever, built from the game's own files and Blizzard's official posts.

What's here

• A database of the game: every item, spell, talent, armour set, dungeon and map in the Forever client, with what Forever changed from Classic Era.
• Class guides: rotations, builds, a talent calculator and a write-up for every ability, for all nine classes.
• Tools: a gear planner, a raid and dungeon planner with a fight simulator, a combat log replay with rankings, and a free in-game companion addon.
• News: Blizzard's announcements explained in plain terms, and a blue tracker of every official post.

Where the data comes from

Everything in the database is read from the World of Warcraft: Forever beta client itself, with Blizzard's hotfixes applied. The pictures of items, armour and creatures are rendered from the client's own models and textures. News comes from Blizzard's forums, news site and official social accounts, and every article links to its sources.

Quests are the one place the client says little: who gives a quest, and where, only comes from the server as you play. So the dungeon and raid quest guides use what WoW Forever itself showed (the game's cache and the ForeverDB addon, which records quests as you're offered them) and, until a quest has been seen in Forever, Classic's details from the open CMaNGOS classic-db database (GPL-3.0), clearly marked Speculation: Classic data. Every quest giver's position is placed on Forever's own maps.

We don't copy other sites and we don't fill gaps with guesses. Apart from those quest details, Classic Era data is only used to show what Forever changed, and it's always labelled as Classic. Anything that isn't playable yet, such as items above the beta's level cap, is marked Speculation. How we verify explains the rules and the labels in full.

Staying up to date

• When Blizzard patches the beta, the new client is extracted and the whole site is rebuilt automatically, after checks that stop a broken build from going live.
• Official posts are collected every 15 minutes and appear in the blue tracker and news as soon as they're published.

Corrections

If something is wrong or missing, please tell us through the contact page. Data errors get fixed first, and the fix goes out with the next update.
