Create your free ForeverDB account
You can read everything on ForeverDB and use the whole addon without an account. A free account adds the things below. You log in with Battle.net, so there's no form to fill in and no new password to make.
Free. It takes a few seconds on Blizzard's own login page, then brings you back to the page you came from.
What a free account adds
- Your uploads, credited to you: what the addon records fills in the quest guides, drop tables and dungeon pages for everyone, and Your uploads lists each upload with its status.
- Your armory: each character's gear, talents, professions, reputations and Legacy progress in your Armory, private until you make a character public.
- Guild tools: your guild's calendar with sign-ups, soft reserves, the loot log and attendance (about the guild tools).
- Combat logs: upload your logs to the replay page, share them with a link and put your pulls in the rankings.
- Your player page: off until you turn it on, with only the characters you choose, and a Following feed of the players you follow.
- Tips and questions: post on item, quest and dungeon pages and vote on other players' posts.
How logging in works
- You log in on Blizzard's own Battle.net page. ForeverDB never sees your password, and there's no ForeverDB password to forget.
- We ask Battle.net for two permissions: openid (who you are) and wow.profile (your WoW characters). ForeverDB doesn't read your characters through it: your armory holds only what you send it yourself.
- Battle.net gives us your account ID (a number) and your BattleTag. We keep those two and when you last logged in, nothing else from Blizzard.
- Your BattleTag shows without its #number everywhere other people can see it: tips, combat logs, tier lists and your player page. Only you see the whole BattleTag, and ForeverDB's admins.
- Battle.net doesn't give us your email address. We only have one if you type it in yourself, for the newsletter or guild reminder emails.
- One cookie keeps you logged in for up to 30 days, and we keep only a one-way hash of it. Log out any time from the account menu.
What the addon and the Uploader collect
The ForeverDB addon writes down what happens around you in the game, and the ForeverDB Uploader or foreverdb.net/send sends it. It's game data, the kind Warcraft Logs and Raider.IO show:
- The world: quests, NPCs, beasts, vendors and trainers, what dropped from what, the herbs, ore and chests you gathered and where, and talent builds.
- Prices: the auction house prices you scanned, never who was selling.
- Boss fights: the boss, the time and the loot, with the names of the characters in your group and who looted each item. Those names are only for your own guild's loot log and attendance, never public. The names in uploaded fights are blanked after 120 days; your guild's loot log keeps winners' names for 12 months.
- Your characters and guild: snapshots of your characters for your armory (gear, talents, professions, reputations, Legacy, stats and resistances, mounts and companions, and the consumables in their bags), and your guild's roster (names, ranks, levels, classes and days offline) for the guild tools.
- The ForeverDB Helper, if you use it: your dungeon runs (times, bosses, wipes and loot), the item IDs on your wishlist, how many goals you have and where you found Forever's scrolls. Never your notes, unless you press Share as a public tip: then ForeverDB's admins check the note before anyone sees it, and it's shown without your name.
- A daily check-in, only if you say yes when the Uploader asks: its version, the addon's version and how the addon is kept up to date, with no account, name or address, so we can count installs.
- Combat logs you upload on the replay page, with the names of the characters in them. Public logs show those names in the rankings, as Warcraft Logs does.
No account needed to help. From Uploader 2.1.1, and in the WoW folder box on foreverdb.net/send when you're not logged in, you can send the addon's game data anonymously: quests, drops, vendors, trainers, beasts, gathering spots, talent builds and the Helper's scroll finds, never your characters, a name or your BattleTag.
Rather a character of yours wasn't shown? Press Hide everywhere next to it in your armory on your profile: wherever other people look, combat logs, rankings, guild rosters and loot logs show it as "Hidden player", and the armory and character search leave it out. Not in your armory? Send a privacy request: ForeverDB's admins can hide any character.
What we never collect
- Your password. Battle.net keeps it.
- Email addresses, apart from your own if you give it to us for the newsletter, guild reminders or the contact form.
- IP addresses. Our hosting and Cloudflare see yours to deliver the site, and so do our analytics and ad partners (see the privacy policy); ForeverDB itself never stores it, only a salted one-way hash where we need to stop spam and floods.
- Your PC or Windows user name, or your WoW account name. The Uploader and the WoW folder box read only the addon's saved files and send only the game data in them.
- Other players' BattleTags. The addon never records or sends them.
- Chat. Nothing anyone says is sent, apart from anonymous counts of gold-spam ads per realm and day, with the websites and Discord invites they advertised.
- Names of suspected bots. Players the addon flags as possible bots or spammers stay on your PC: their names are never uploaded.
You're in control
- Delete your account any time with Delete my account on your profile, unless a moderation action on it is still open. Your armory, uploads, player page and follows go with it; your public combat logs go too, or stay without your name, as you choose. Tips and answers stay as "a former player" unless you delete them first.
- Make characters and combat logs private, switch your player page off, or delete a character, a log or a tip at any time.
- Unlink the Uploader from your profile whenever you like.
- The privacy policy has every detail: what's kept, for how long, and who else is involved.
