Players saw a hotfix slash thrown-weapon prices at Charity Mipsy in Theramore

· ForeverDB
Players' ForeverDB addons reported that the buy prices on six thrown weapons at Charity Mipsy dropped sharply in the game, with the Gleaming Throwing Axe falling from 2g 48s 11c to 8s. The Forever client files still show the old prices, and Blizzard hasn't posted about it.
Player reports, not confirmed by Blizzard. These prices are what players' ForeverDB addons saw in the game, not the client data and not a Blizzard post.
Charity Mipsy (NPC 4896) is a General Goods vendor in Dustwallow Marsh, standing in Theramore at about 67.5, 51.6 on the Alliance side. Among her stock are six thrown weapons. On 12 October players' ForeverDB addons uploaded her prices from the game, and they were far below the prices in the Forever client's files.
What players' addons saw
Two players (one with an account) uploaded these prices in two uploads on 12 October. The number before each arrow is the buy price in the Forever client's files; the number after is what the addons saw in the game:
- Gleaming Throwing Axe (Gleaming Throwing Axe): 2g 48s 11c to 8s
- Wicked Throwing Dagger (Wicked Throwing Dagger): 2g 48s 11c to 8s
- Heavy Throwing Dagger (Heavy Throwing Dagger): 75s 93c to 2s
- Deadly Throwing Axe (Deadly Throwing Axe): 75s 93c to 2s
- Keen Throwing Knife (Keen Throwing Knife): 18s 30c to 75c
- Sharp Throwing Axe (Sharp Throwing Axe): 18s 30c to 75c
The six split into three pairs by level. The Keen Throwing Knife and Sharp Throwing Axe require level 11; the Heavy Throwing Dagger and Deadly Throwing Axe require level 22; the Gleaming Throwing Axe and Wicked Throwing Dagger require level 35. Each pair shared the same client price and dropped to the same new price.
What the client files say
In the Forever client's files Charity Mipsy still sells these at the old prices (2g 48s 11c, 75s 93c and 18s 30c). The client's buy price for each is five times its vendor sell-back value, which is the usual ratio: the Gleaming Throwing Axe sells back for 49s 62c, for example. Buy prices are a property of the item, not the vendor, and these thrown weapons are stocked by many general-goods and weapon vendors, so a change to the item price would show up wherever they're sold. Players' addons recorded the same cuts at many other vendors between 3 and 13 October, among them Asoran, Kuruk, Eleanor Rusk, Trak'gen, Vikki Lonsav, Ariyell Skyshadow and Brenwyn Wintersteel.
Because the client files still carry the old prices and only the live game shows the new ones, this looks like a server-side hotfix rather than a client build change. We track it on our Changes seen in game page.
Speculation. Why the prices fell isn't stated anywhere we track. The new buy prices sit below the client's vendor sell-back values, which is unusual, so this may be price tuning that is still in progress. Treat the reason as unconfirmed.
What we don't know
- Blizzard hasn't mentioned a thrown-weapon price change in any post we track.
- Whether the new prices are final or are still being tuned (Speculation). Later uploads, each from one player, saw the old prices back at Ariyell Skyshadow on 16 October and close to them at Eleanor Rusk on 18 October, so the cut may already have been reversed.
- Whether the vendor sell-back values changed alongside the buy prices; the client files still show the old sell-back amounts, and players' uploads covered the buy price only.
We'll update this page if a new build or a Blizzard post confirms it. More of what players' addons have caught in the game is on our Changes seen in game page.
