Blizzard's Forever Journey EP.1 in Norway, and the zones and dungeons it names

Blizzard's thumbnail for its video WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp)

· ForeverDB

Blizzard's first Forever Journey film takes streamers Guzu, Snupy and Stian Blipp across Norway, cutting between real fjords and WoW: Forever. The zones, dungeons, items and class abilities it names are all in the beta client, apart from two pieces of Wrath content and a few names the captions got wrong.

This is an official Blizzard video, posted to the World of Warcraft YouTube channel on 24 October 2026. Every name it drops is checked against the WoW: Forever beta client (build 1.60.1.70532); the levels and numbers come from the client, and server-side values such as Rage, Energy and mana regeneration can't be read from it yet.

Forever Journey is a new Blizzard video series. In the first episode the streamers Guzu, Snupy and Stian Blipp travel through Norway, and the film cuts between real fjords and WoW: Forever footage. It is a mood piece about the world coming back, with no mechanics to argue with, but it names real zones, dungeons, items and a couple of class abilities. We checked each one against the beta client: none contradicts it, and the only gaps are two things that sit outside the Classic-era beta.

The short version

  • The first Forever Journey episode is an official Blizzard travel film that follows Guzu, Snupy and Stian Blipp across Norway. It announces no new systems.
  • Every place it names is in the beta client: the zones (the Barrens, Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, Silverpine Forest, Westfall), the dungeons (Uldaman, Zul'Farrak, Dire Maul) and the items (Westfall Stew, the Seal of Wrynn).
  • Utgarde Pinnacle and the Blue Proto-Drake are Wrath of the Lich King content, outside the beta. The axe Kang the Decapitator is in the client, but its record is still hidden, so it isn't in our data yet.
  • Vanish and Fireball come up in passing, and both match the client.
  • The captions mishear Utgarde and Murloc, and a few everyday words in the film share their names with spells (Blizzard, Reflection, Setup).
  • The film skips class changes, so we list what changed for the four classes it names: Warrior, Rogue, Mage and Druid.

Named places, factions, dungeons, items and abilities in the film, checked against the Forever beta client.

The places it names

The group talks about zone after zone. The snowy valley reminds them of Dun Morogh, the lake below of Loch Modan (the body of water itself is the client area The Loch). One of them recalls a sad secret quest with a buried grave on Fenris Isle in Silverpine Forest; Fenris Isle is a named area in the client. They also name the Barrens, Westfall and, at the start, Azeroth itself. All of them are in the Forever data.

The look of it

The praise is almost all for the world's new look. They call it a "graphical overhaul" and keep coming back to the water, the fog and the lighting.

The water in WoW: Forever. It almost looks better than the water in real life. Blizzard, WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp) (11:57)
the scary zones are so much more scary now. Blizzard, WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp) (9:08)
World of Fogcraft. Blizzard, WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp) (4:27)

Dungeons on the wall

Inside the cabin, photos on the wall spark dungeon memories. Dire Maul gets a shout. One of them tells the story of an Epic drop:

And I remember we were in Zul'Farrak and it dropped an Epic item which was called Kang the Decapitator. Blizzard, WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp) (19:05)

Zul'Farrak is a 5-player dungeon in the client. Kang the Decapitator, the axe, isn't in our item data yet, so we can't show its stats. Later they decide to head to Uldaman; that dungeon is in the client too, with its eight bosses.

The letter, the map and the Seal of Wrynn

The episode's framing is a real-world quest: a letter arrives telling Guzu to "earn your mount", with a map and a waypoint. Later a second sealed letter turns up under a pillow, and they wonder if it carries the "seal of Wrynn". The Seal of Wrynn is a real item in the client, and the Westfall Stew they joke about at dinner is in there too.

Professions

They also like the profession changes.

I think the whole overhaul for professions is amazing. Blizzard, WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp) (13:58)

They point to mining, skinning and herbalism being learnable in the starting zones. Our profession pages are still filling in, so treat the detail as beta-only for now.

The class abilities it names

Typical Rogue player. Just vanish as soon as things get tough. Blizzard, WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp) (12:46)

That is Vanish Vanish, a Rogue ability learned from the trainer at level 22, with a stronger Rank 2 at level 42. Earlier, two mobs "casting fireballs" are using the Mage's Fireball Fireball, the level 1 starter: Rank 1 is a 1.5 sec cast for 14 to 22 Fire damage plus 2 over 4 sec. In Forever its higher ranks hit for less than in Classic (Rank 12 is 425 to 541 plus 60 over 8 sec instead of 596 to 760 plus 76).

Misheard names and words that sound like spells

YouTube's auto captions mishear a couple of names, and some everyday words match spell names:

  • "Utguard" and "Utguard Pinnacle" are Utgarde Pinnacle, a Wrath of the Lich King dungeon.
  • "eat a Murloch" is a Murloc.
  • "World of Fogcraft" is a joke, not a place.
  • "Blizzard here" is the studio speaking, not the Mage spell Blizzard Blizzard, which is learned at level 20 (the client has no numbers for its ranks; the server works them out).
  • "The reflection in the water" is scenery. The Druid talent Reflection Reflection (Restoration, level 20) now lets up to 50% of your mana regeneration continue while casting, up from 15%.
  • "Setting up a LAN party" has nothing to do with the Rogue talent Setup Setup. That is now Subtlety tier 2 at level 15, and its top rank has a 100% chance to add a combo point after you dodge or fully resist, up from 45%.

What is in the client and what isn't

The client has everything the film points at that belongs to the Classic-era world. Every zone it names has a map page (the Barrens, Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, Silverpine Forest, Westfall and Azeroth), the three dungeons come with boss lists (Uldaman, Zul'Farrak and Dire Maul), and both items are there (Westfall Stew and the Seal of Wrynn). The axe Kang the Decapitator has an item record in the client, but its name and stats are still hidden, so it isn't in our item data yet. Utgarde Pinnacle and the Blue Proto-Drake aren't in the beta at all: they are Wrath of the Lich King content.

Farming the Blue Proto-Drake from, like, Utguard. Blizzard, WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp) (19:47)

That memory is from retail, so there is nothing to show and no way to farm either of them here. The letter telling Guzu to "earn your mount" is a real-world marketing event, not an in-game quest. And with the beta capped at level 30, Uldaman, Zul'Farrak and Dire Maul all sit above where a beta character can go for now.

The class changes the film skips

The film keeps class talk to childhood memories, like two friends levelling side by side:

We were both playing Warriors Blizzard, WoW: Forever Journey EP.1 | Norway (ft. Guzu, Snupy & Stian Blipp) (18:54)

For the four classes the film names, these are the changes the client holds, with the level you learn each at. Talent tiers open every 5 levels from 10 (tier 1 at 10, up to tier 7 at 40), so a beta character capped at 30 can reach tier 5.

Warrior

Arms

  • Tactical Mastery is now a trainer ability at level 14, not a talent (new in Forever; the old talent's spell became the Improved Tactical Mastery talent). You keep extra Rage through a stance swap from early on.

  • Bloodthrill takes Axe Specialization's tier 5 slot at level 30. Rank 5 gives your main-hand hits against a Rend target a 20% chance to let you Overpower.
  • Weaponmaster takes Mace Specialization's tier 5 slot at level 30, with a bonus that depends on your weapon (axe or polearm +5% crit, mace or staff ignore 15% armour, sword a chance at an extra attack).
  • Thunder Clap (level 6) now works in Battle or Defensive Stance, but its cooldown is 6 sec instead of 4.
  • Retaliation (level 20) is back every 15 min instead of 30.

  • Furious Precision replaces Improved Cleave at tier 3, level 20. Rank 3 gives a 10% chance to hit with off-hand attacks.
  • Raging Blows, a new tier 4 talent at level 25: Rank 1 cuts the Rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3.
  • Slam now has a new Rank 1 at level 20 and an 18 sec cooldown instead of none.
  • Battle Shout (level 1) lasts 3 min instead of 2, but Rank 7 gives 139 attack power instead of 232.

Protection

  • Master of Defense replaces Improved Shield Block at tier 3, level 20. Rank 2 gives a 100% chance to make 5 Rage when you Dodge or Parry with a shield equipped.
  • Vanguard, a new tier 4 talent at level 25, lets you Charge while in Defensive Stance, which tanks will want.
  • Focused Rage, a new tier 5 talent at level 30: Rank 3 cuts the Rage cost of your offensive abilities by 3.
  • Shield Block (level 16) lasts 7 sec and blocks 2 attacks, instead of 5 sec and 1.

  • Shield Wall (level 28) is back every 15 min instead of 30 and lasts 12 sec instead of 10, but cuts damage by 60% instead of 75%.

Assassination

  • Mutilate is a new tier 5 talent you reach at level 30: strike with both weapons for 75% weapon damage plus 17 each, 20% more against Poisoned targets, for 2 combo points. Its Rank 2 costs 60 Energy and comes at level 40.
  • Coup de Grace, a new ability at level 30, new in Forever.
  • Expose Armor (level 14) strips more armour: Rank 5 is −450 per combo point instead of −340.
  • Rupture (level 20) bleeds for less: Rank 6 is 105 over 6 sec instead of 180.

  • Cold Blood moved up to tier 4 (level 25) and now also guarantees a Mutilate crit.

  • Dual Wield Specialization (level 25) now adds 25% off-hand damage instead of 50%, a straight nerf.

  • Deflection (level 15) is 3 ranks now; Rank 3 gives 6% parry.

Subtlety

  • Dirty Tricks, a new tier 2 talent at level 15: Rank 2 cuts the Energy cost of Sap and Blind by 50%.
  • Improved Distract, a new tier 3 talent at level 20: Rank 2 adds 5 yards to Distract and treats distracted enemies as 2 levels lower for stealth.
  • Ghostly Strike (level 20) now deals 180% weapon damage with a dagger (125% otherwise).
  • Distract (level 22) now lasts 10 sec, where it had no duration before.
  • Initiative (level 20) is a sure thing now: Rank 3 is a 100% chance to add a combo point from Ambush, Garrote or Cheap Shot, up from 75%.
