Players' addons saw Trak'gen's throwing weapons drop sharply in price

The Kalimdor loading screen from the WoW Forever client

· ForeverDB

Players running the ForeverDB addon recorded the vendor Trak'gen selling ten thrown weapons for far less over 12 and 13 October, for example the Gleaming Throwing Axe at 7s 20c instead of 2g 48s 11c. Blizzard hasn't posted about it, and the beta client's files still list the old prices.

Player reports, not confirmed by Blizzard. These prices are what ForeverDB players' addons recorded in the game. They are not the beta client's files, and not a Blizzard post.

Over 12 and 13 October, players running the ForeverDB Companion addon recorded the vendor Trak'gen selling ten thrown weapons for much less than the buy prices in the client's files. All ten are thrown weapons in the beta client's files (weapon class, thrown subclass). The prices players saw in game were well below the buy prices the client's files still list, so this looks like a vendor-price hotfix on Blizzard's servers.

What players' addons saw

In each line the first price is the one in the Forever client, and the second is the price players' addons saw at the vendor:

Two players uploaded these prices, both with an account, across five uploads on 12 and 13 October. That is a small sample, so treat it as a player report until more uploads or a Blizzard post confirm it.

Speculation. The change makes thrown weapons much cheaper to buy from a vendor, which would lower the running cost of a thrown-weapon slot while levelling. Blizzard hasn't given a reason, so why it changed is a guess.

What this is, and isn't

  • Blizzard hasn't mentioned Trak'gen or thrown-weapon prices in any development notes or post we track.
  • The beta client's files still list the old, higher buy prices, so a later build may update them to match.
  • Vendor buy prices are set on Blizzard's servers, so the client's files can't show this change on their own. We can only compare what players' addons saw against the client's values.

We'll update this page if a new build changes the client's prices or Blizzard posts about it.
