Undead Rogue: your first 10 levels
Updated · ForeverDB
A gentle start for an Undead Rogue in WoW Forever: where your trainer stands in Deathknell, your spells up to level 10, your class quests, the racials that help and the best professions.
Written for the WoW Forever beta, for your first 10 levels. Where each person stands comes from what players recorded in WoW Forever wherever we have it. Anything else is marked: "Classic data" means the spot comes from the original game and may have moved in Forever.
Right now
Welcome! You're an Undead Rogue, and you start in Deathknell. Here are the three things you need first. Take your time: nothing here is in a rush.
- You appear at 30.0, 71.7 in Deathknell.
- Your first quest: talk to Undertaker Mordo (30.2, 71.7), next to where you appear.
- Your Rogue trainer is David Trias at 32.5, 65.7, 215 yards north-east of where you appear (Classic data, may differ in Forever). Walk: 250 yards, 35 sec.
- Your class quest: Shadow Priest Sarvis also has Encrypted Scroll for you. It sends you to your trainer, and it's free experience.
Tip: If you die, that's fine: everyone does. Click Release Spirit, run back to your body as a ghost, and carry on. Fight one enemy at a time and eat or drink between fights.
Playing a Rogue at first
You're quick and sneaky. You fight up close with daggers or swords, you can hide in stealth, and you use Energy, which refills quickly by itself.
- Press Sinister Strike to build combo points (the little dots on your enemy's portrait).
- With a few combo points, finish with Eviscerate for a big hit.
- Use Stealth to walk past enemies or to start a fight on your terms.
Tip: You can't heal yourself, so eat food between fights.
Tip: From level 4, Backstab hits hard from behind with a dagger.
Your spells up to level 10
You start with your level 1 spells. The rest you learn from your trainer, for a few coins, at levels 4, 6, 8, 10. A few come from class quests instead. From the WoW Forever game client:

Class quests
| Level | Quest | Starts with |
|---|---|---|

| 10 | Mennet Carkad | Marion Call (61.8, 52.0) (Classic data) |
Your racials as a Rogue
- Cannibalize: Eat from a fallen humanoid or undead enemy to get health and mana back. Less time spent eating food.
- Touch of the Grave: Your attacks and spells sometimes drain a little health from your target, a small heal while you fight.
- Will of the Forsaken: Breaks fear, charm and sleep. Very strong against other players who fear you.
Professions
For a Rogue, the best pair is Leatherworking and Skinning. Leatherworking makes leather armor you can wear, and Skinning takes leather from the beasts you kill anyway, so you never have to buy it.
Tip: Not sure yet? Pick two gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining or Skinning). They make money from the very first herb, vein or beast, and you can swap one for a crafting profession later. Dropping a profession loses its skill, so decide before you've raised it far.
More on this: the best professions for each class.
After level 10
At level 10 you get your first talent point. Our Rogue leveling guide takes you on from there, and the leveling guide shows where to go next. Your first dungeon comes a bit later: see your first dungeon.
