Best professions for each class
Updated · ForeverDB
Which two professions to pick for your class in WoW Forever, and why, the two racial profession bonuses, and where the profession trainers are in every starting area.
Written for the WoW Forever beta, for your first 10 levels. Where each person stands comes from what players recorded in WoW Forever wherever we have it. Anything else is marked: "Classic data" means the spot comes from the original game and may have moved in Forever.
The short answer
You can learn two main professions. The easiest start is one that gathers and one that makes things from what you gather. These pairs come from what each profession makes in the WoW Forever game client and what your class can use.
| Class | Best pair | Why | Also good |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Blacksmithing + Mining | Blacksmithing makes mail armor and weapons you can wear, and sharpening stones for your weapon. Mining digs up the ore Blacksmithing needs, and spare ore sells well. | Enchanting + Leatherworking |
| Paladin | Blacksmithing + Mining | Blacksmithing makes mail armor and weapons you can wear, and Mining digs up the ore for it. Spare ore sells well too. | Tailoring + Leatherworking |
| Hunter | Leatherworking + Skinning | Leatherworking makes leather armor you can wear, and Skinning takes leather from the beasts you kill anyway, so you never have to buy it. | Enchanting + Alchemy |
| Rogue | Leatherworking + Skinning | Leatherworking makes leather armor you can wear, and Skinning takes leather from the beasts you kill anyway, so you never have to buy it. | Enchanting + Alchemy |
| Priest | Tailoring + Enchanting | Tailoring makes cloth armor you can wear from the cloth that enemies drop. Enchanting turns gear you don't need into magic dust that makes your gear better, and it makes wands. | Alchemy + Herbalism |
| Shaman | Leatherworking + Skinning | Leatherworking makes leather armor you can wear, and Skinning takes leather from the beasts you kill anyway. | Tailoring + Enchanting |
| Mage | Tailoring + Enchanting | Tailoring makes cloth armor you can wear from the cloth that enemies drop. Enchanting turns gear you don't need into magic dust that makes your gear better, and it makes wands. | Alchemy + Herbalism |
| Warlock | Tailoring + Enchanting | Tailoring makes cloth armor you can wear from the cloth that enemies drop. Enchanting turns gear you don't need into magic dust that makes your gear better, and it makes wands. | Alchemy + Herbalism |
| Druid | Leatherworking + Skinning | Leatherworking makes leather armor you can wear, and Skinning takes leather from the beasts you kill anyway. | Tailoring + Enchanting |
Tip: Not sure yet? Pick two gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining or Skinning). They make money from the very first herb, vein or beast, and you can swap one for a crafting profession later. Dropping a profession loses its skill, so decide before you've raised it far.
Racial bonuses
Two races have a racial for a profession in WoW Forever. Both work differently from Classic, where they were a flat skill bonus:
- Tauren: Cultivation: "Cultivate a nearby herb, growing a duplicate you can harvest without requiring Herbalism skill. Each herb may only be cultivated once." In Classic: "Herbalism skill increased by 15."
- Gnome: Engineering Specialization: "Your gnomish ingenuity reduces the rate of engineering devices failing or backfiring when you use them by 20%." In Classic: "Engineering skill increased by 15."

Speculation: When you can learn: in Classic's trainer data, crafting professions ask for level 5 at the Apprentice rank, and gathering professions and First Aid ask for no level. WoW Forever's trainers may differ.
