yumytv on why Forever could be bigger than expected: what the client can and can't confirm

· ForeverDB
yumytv's video is a think-piece on why WoW Forever could be bigger than expected, so most of it is opinion rather than fact. The client confirms Warrior Taunt (level 10, 8 sec cooldown instead of 10) and a transmog toggle, but most of the mechanics it names, from blessing durations to a "20 to 30% faster" level, are worked out by the server and can't be checked yet.
This is a community video by yumytv, not a Blizzard video: everything in it is the creator's view or claim, not Blizzard's word. yumytv shares their thoughts on why WoW Forever could grow bigger than people expect. We checked every game claim it makes against the Forever beta client (build 1.60.1.70450). Beta data can change before launch in November 2026.
yumytv's latest video is a long think-piece: their case for why WoW Forever could be bigger than people expect. Most of it is opinion about the game's direction, so there isn't a lot to fact-check. But yumytv does name a handful of mechanics, from Warrior Taunt to the transmog toggle, and passes on a line from the lead developer about wanting to "unsolve the game". Here is what the Forever beta client can and can't back up.

The short version
- This is a community opinion video. yumytv argues Forever's changes will make the world feel "fresh" and "alive" again, and quotes the lead developer saying the team wanted to "unsolve the game". Those are design views, not facts we can test.
- The client confirms Taunt Taunt is still a Warrior ability, learned from a quest at level 10, with an 8 sec cooldown (8 instead of Classic Era's 10) and needing Defensive Stance. It's well within the beta's level 30 cap.
- yumytv asks what happens "if paladins get taunt". The client's Paladin ability list has no taunt, so we can't confirm that from the client yet.
- The client has a transmog toggle: its own "Transmog off" option. Whether other players can hide their gear from you, as yumytv describes, isn't in the client text.
- The rest (blessing durations, AoE slow nerfs, Rogue energy regen, "20 to 30% faster" leveling, camping buffs) is worked out by the server or is content, so it's can't-check-yet. The table below lists each one.
Claim by claim
| Claim | The video says | The client says | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior Taunt | "Will warrior tanks be relevant if paladins get taunt?" | Taunt Taunt is a Warrior ability from a quest at level 10: instant, 5 yd, taunts for 3 sec, 8 sec cooldown (8 instead of Classic Era's 10), needs Defensive Stance. No taunt in the client's Paladin ability list. | Warrior taunt confirmed; paladin taunt can't be confirmed |
| Paladin blessings | Blessings "just have a 60-minute duration". | The blessing durations aren't in the client data we have. | Can't check yet |
| Mage AoE slows | "How will mage be able to farm if AoE slows are nerfed?" | Blizzard Blizzard is a Mage area spell from the trainer at level 20 (192 Frost over 8 sec, 320 mana, 30 yd at rank 1). Whether it slows, and by how much, is a server value the client doesn't store. | Can't check yet |
| Rogue energy regeneration | The community is arguing over "rogue energy regeneration". | Energy regen is a server formula, not in the client. The only "Regeneration" in the client is an unrelated Mage spell Regeneration, a Season of Discovery leftover nothing teaches. | Can't check yet |
| Leveling speed | Modernised talents and itemisation make leveling "20 to 30% faster". | Leveling speed depends on the server and the content, not the client. | Can't check yet |
| Camping | Camping gives powerful buffs, "boosted experience gain" and on-demand vendors. | Those buff and XP values aren't in the client data we read. | Can't check yet |
| Transmog toggle | You can "simply just turn transmog off", and others can't hide their gear from you. | The client has its own "Transmog off" option. Whether others can hide their gear from you isn't shown in the client text. | The option is there; the rest can't be checked |
Verdicts use the Forever beta client (build 1.60.1.70450). "Can't check yet" means the number or behaviour is worked out by the server, not stored in the client.
Taunt, and the paladin question
yumytv asks, "Will warrior tanks be relevant if paladins get taunt?" The client answers half of that. Taunt Taunt is still a Warrior ability, learned from a quest at level 10, so beta players have it under the level 30 cap. It is instant, has a 5 yd range and taunts the target for 3 sec, and it still needs Defensive Stance. The one change the client shows is its cooldown: 8 sec, down from Classic Era's 10 (see the Warrior changes and the Warrior talent calculator). As for paladins, the client's Paladin ability list has no taunt. We can't confirm that part from the client yet (see the Paladin changes).
The transmog toggle
yumytv calls Forever's "toggleable transmog system" the cleanest compromise they have seen, and says if you want a grounded world you can "simply just turn transmog off". The client backs the toggle: it has its own "Transmog off" option. The behaviour yumytv describes on top of it, that your earned items can't be hidden or disabled by anyone else, isn't something the client text shows, so treat that part as can't-check-yet.
The claims the client can't settle yet
Most of the video is about systems the Forever client doesn't carry numbers for. These are worked out by the server or are world content, so we can't check them from the client:
- Paladin blessings with a "60-minute duration": the blessing durations aren't in the client data we have.
- Mage "AoE slows are nerfed": Blizzard Blizzard is a Mage area spell from the trainer at level 20 (192 Frost over 8 sec, 320 mana, 30 yd at rank 1). Whether it slows, and by how much, is a server value the client doesn't store.
- "rogue energy regeneration": energy regen is a server formula. The only "Regeneration" in the client is an unrelated Mage spell Regeneration, a Season of Discovery leftover nothing in the Forever client teaches.
- Leveling "20 to 30% faster": leveling speed depends on the server and the content, not the client.
- Camping's "boosted experience gain" and buffs: the client we read doesn't carry those numbers.
Where the video and the client differ
- yumytv's "if paladins get taunt": in the client, Taunt Taunt is a Warrior ability, and the client's Paladin ability list shows no taunt. The client can't confirm paladins get a taunt (it may live server-side or not be in this beta client).
