Payo's WoW Forever Hunter PvP: Aspect of the Cheetah, Cheap Shot and Auto Shot checked

· ForeverDB
Payo's video is a run of PvP ganking clips played as a Hunter, with a lot of banter. Between fights they name three abilities and read one number off the screen: Aspect of the Cheetah at "36" speed. The client confirms the base 30% at level 20, but we can't check the 36% yet.
This is a community video by Payo, not a Blizzard announcement. The claims below are the creator's. We checked them against the WoW Forever beta client (build 1.60.1.70450), and the numbers come from the client. Beta data can still change before launch.
Payo's video is a reel of PvP ganking played as a Hunter, with a lot of banter and reactions to other players. There are not many hard numbers in it, but Payo names three abilities and reads one off the screen. Here is what the client has for each. We leave the fights with named players out of this.

The short version
- Aspect of the Cheetah (Aspect of the Cheetah): the captions hear "Aspect of the Cheeto". The client's spell increases movement speed by 30%, is instant, costs 40 mana, and is learned from the trainer at level 20. That matches the "30" Payo reads.
- The 36% number: Payo says the speed reads "36" "if you have improved aspect of the cheetah". We can't check that. The client data we have shows Aspect of the Cheetah at 30% and no speed bonus from that talent, so treat the 36% as a player claim for now.
- Cheap Shot (Cheap Shot) and Auto Shot (Auto Shot) are in the client as named, at level 26 and level 1. Both are reachable under the beta's level 30 cap.
- There is nothing else in the video to check: the rest is PvP banter.
Claim by claim
| Ability | Payo says | The client says | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aspect of the Cheetah (Aspect of the Cheetah) | Reads the speed boost as "30". | Increases movement speed by 30%. Instant, 40 mana. Dazed for 4 sec if the Hunter takes damage. Learned at level 20. | Agrees |
| Improved Aspect of the Cheetah | Says the speed is "36" "if you have improved aspect of the cheetah". | Not in our facts. Aspect of the Cheetah is 30%, and no talent speed bonus is in the client data we have. | Can't check yet |
| Cheap Shot (Cheap Shot) | Names it as a Rogue opener ("cast target maybe cheap shot"). | Stuns the target for 4 sec. Must be stealthed. Awards 2 combo points. 60 Energy, 5 yd. Learned at level 26. | Agrees |
| Auto Shot (Auto Shot) | Mentions it as the relaxing part of Hunter ("you auto shot"). | Automatically shoots the target until cancelled. 35 yd. Requires a ranged weapon. Learned at level 1. | Agrees |
The in-game names are from the Forever client; the captions spell some of them differently.
Hunter
Payo spends most of the video on a Hunter. The one number they call out is movement speed. In the client, Aspect of the Cheetah (Aspect of the Cheetah) "increasing movement speed by 30%", is instant, costs 40 mana, and is learned from the trainer at level 20. If the Hunter takes damage they are dazed for 4 sec. That matches the "30" Payo reads before the clip cuts in.
Payo then says "increasing my speed not by 30, by 36" and adds "not if you have improved aspect of the cheetah". We can't back that up. The client data we have shows Aspect of the Cheetah at 30%, and the talent that shares that name in Classic Era reduces the daze, it does not raise the speed. Until a beta Hunter confirms a 36% reading in game, this is a player claim.
The other Hunter ability named is Auto Shot (Auto Shot), which Payo calls the relaxing part of the class. The client has it at level 1, 35 yd range, requiring a bow, gun or crossbow.

Rogue
Payo names Cheap Shot (Cheap Shot) as an opener. The client confirms it: "Stuns the target for 4 sec. Must be stealthed. Awards 2 combo points." It costs 60 Energy, has a 5 yd range, and is learned at level 26, so a Rogue can use it under the beta's level 30 cap.
More on the class: Rogue, Rogue changes, the Rogue talent calculator, and the Assassination, Combat and Subtlety simulators.
Where the client and Payo differ
- The 36% Aspect of the Cheetah. Payo reads "36" and credits "improved aspect of the cheetah". The client data we have shows the spell at 30% and no speed bonus from that talent, so we can't confirm the 36%. Not a confirmed disagreement, just a number the client can't back up yet.
