Windshaper Skyborne Rogue: your first 10 levels
Updated · ForeverDB
A gentle start for a Windshaper Skyborne Rogue in WoW Forever: where your trainer stands in Thendal Village, your spells up to level 10, your class quests, the racials that help and the best professions.
Written for the WoW Forever beta, for your first 10 levels. Where each person stands comes from what players recorded in WoW Forever wherever we have it. Anything else is marked: "Classic data" means the spot comes from the original game and may have moved in Forever.
Right now
Welcome! You're a Windshaper Skyborne Rogue, and you start in Thendal Village. Here are the three things you need first. Take your time: nothing here is in a rush.
- You appear at 42.8, 23.4 in Thendal Village.
- Your first quest: talk to Ailee Farheart (42.8, 23.4), next to where you appear.
- Your Rogue trainer is Akeri Duskblade at 43.7, 24.3, 60 yards south-east of where you appear (seen once in Forever, not confirmed). Walk: 155 yards, 20 sec.
- Your class quest: Rorian the Dayseeker also has At Home in the Shadows for you. It sends you to your trainer, and it's free experience.
Tip: If you die, that's fine: everyone does. Click Release Spirit, run back to your body as a ghost, and carry on. Fight one enemy at a time and eat or drink between fights.
Playing a Rogue at first
You're quick and sneaky. You fight up close with daggers or swords, you can hide in stealth, and you use Energy, which refills quickly by itself.
- Press Sinister Strike to build combo points (the little dots on your enemy's portrait).
- With a few combo points, finish with Eviscerate for a big hit.
- Use Stealth to walk past enemies or to start a fight on your terms.
Tip: You can't heal yourself, so eat food between fights.
Tip: From level 4, Backstab hits hard from behind with a dagger.
Your spells up to level 10
You start with your level 1 spells. The rest you learn from your trainer, for a few coins, at levels 4, 6, 8, 10. A few come from class quests instead. From the WoW Forever game client:

Where your Rogue trainers are
| Where | Trainer | Spot (click for the map) | Walk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thendal Village | Akeri Duskblade (seen once in Forever, not confirmed) | 43.7, 24.3 | 155 yards, 20 sec |
| Shen'dar Village | Miriaan Mistblade (seen once in Forever, not confirmed) | 43.2, 43.3 | 160 yards, 25 sec |
Walks start from where you appear (the first trainer), the middle of the town (town trainers) or the first town (city trainers).
Class quests
| Level | Quest | Starts with |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | At Home in the Shadows | Rorian the Dayseeker (42.1, 23.5) |
Your racials as a Rogue
- Elemental Insight: More damage to elementals, which are common on Zephras Isle.
- Read Leyline: Rest faster: your health and mana come back twice as fast. Near one of the island's leylines it lasts much longer.
- Skysight: A little more speed, on foot and mounted. Near a convergence of elements it lasts much longer.
- Walk on Air: Glide gently down instead of falling. Jump off a cliff without getting hurt.
- Wind Blessed: A little haste for everything: faster attacks and faster spells.
Professions
For a Rogue, the best pair is Leatherworking and Skinning. Leatherworking makes leather armor you can wear, and Skinning takes leather from the beasts you kill anyway, so you never have to buy it.
Tip: Not sure yet? Pick two gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining or Skinning). They make money from the very first herb, vein or beast, and you can swap one for a crafting profession later. Dropping a profession loses its skill, so decide before you've raised it far.
More on this: the best professions for each class.
After level 10
At level 10 you get your first talent point. Our Rogue leveling guide takes you on from there, and the leveling guide shows where to go next. Your first dungeon comes a bit later: see your first dungeon.
