DoubleT Gaming's "7 Things NOT to Do on Launch" and the game facts behind it

Hunter and Druid talent tree paintings from the WoW Forever client

· ForeverDB

DoubleT Gaming lists things to avoid when WoW Forever launches, from booking time off to racing to level 60. Most of it is personal advice. We checked the few game facts in it: the launch time, the stress test date, the campfire profession buffs, and why level 30 beta tier lists and sims can't tell you how a class performs at 60.

This is a community video by DoubleT Gaming, not a Blizzard post, so the advice in it is the creator's own. We checked its game facts against the Forever live client (build 1.60.1.70532, from 24 October) and Blizzard's launch and camping posts, and the numbers below come from those, not from the video.

DoubleT Gaming has posted a list of things not to do when World of Warcraft: Forever launches. Most of it is personal advice (don't book time off work, don't race to level 60, play the class you enjoy), and we leave that to the creator. A few points touch the game itself, from the launch time to professions and beta tier lists.

The short version

  • DoubleT Gaming's advice: don't take launch day off work, don't try to win a levelling race, don't pick your main from a beta tier list, don't forget professions, don't vendor your white and green items, and skip the guides on your first run.
  • Launch is set for 4 November 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST (23:00 UTC), the same moment as the "6:00 p.m. EST" the video gives.
  • The video puts the stress test "on the 19th". Blizzard did announce 19 October first, then moved it two days, and it ran on 21 October.
  • The campfire buffs are real: the kits are in the client, and each profession adds an object that gives its own buff.
  • Every beta tier list and sim is at level 30, the beta's cap, so none of them can show how a class performs at level 60.

Launch day and the stress test

The launch time checks out. Blizzard has set WoW Forever for 4 November 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST (23:00 UTC) worldwide, and 3 p.m. PST is 6 p.m. EST, so the video's two times are the same moment. Our launch hub has a countdown in your own time zone. The queue sizes the creator expects are down to the servers, and the client can't tell us anything about them.

The servers are going to be absolutely trash on the 4th and most likely for a few days after. DoubleT Gaming, WoW Forever: 7 Things NOT to Do on Launch (1:04)

One date is off, and it's the only point in the video that Blizzard's posts contradict. The video puts the stress test "on the 19th". Blizzard did first announce 19 October, but Community Manager Kaivax posted a correction moving it to 21 October, and it ran then, open to any WoW account with no subscription. We cover it in our stress test article. The video went up on 21 October, so the creator was probably working from the original date.

Professions and the campfire

The creator is keen on professions, and the campfire system the video describes is in the client.

I am actually looking forward to professions almost more than I am leveling. DoubleT Gaming, WoW Forever: 7 Things NOT to Do on Launch (6:28)

Blizzard's Gather Around the Campfire blog turns the Cooking profession's Cooking Fire into a shared campsite, and each profession adds one crafted object with its own buff: a Sharpening Wheel from Blacksmithing, a Faction Banner from Tailoring, an Incense Candle from Herbalism, and so on. The kits are already in the client, and we list them all in How the camping system works. The "king's buff" the video gives fishing is there too: the Fish Bowl, a Fishing camp feature, gives "8% increased stats, mutually exclusive with Blessing of Kings". Fish food with an experience buff isn't spelled out in the client data we can read, but Blizzard's Deep Dive recap says crafted food "can grant a small experience bonus". That partly backs the video, though fish aren't named.

Keeping your white and green items rather than vendoring them is a gameplay call, not a number we can check. It makes sense in a fresh economy, where levellers buy greens for Enchanting and whites for other professions.

Classes are still being tuned

The video also warns against choosing a main from what you see in the beta.

don't pick your main based on tier lists or charts you're seeing at level 30 in the beta DoubleT Gaming, WoW Forever: 7 Things NOT to Do on Launch (3:55)

Every class is reworked in Forever and still being tuned, so a level 30 beta ranking is only a snapshot. Druid, the video's "druids are bad" example, has changed a lot from Classic Era: Wrath does more damage at low ranks and less at the top (rank 8 does 86 to 96 instead of 236 to 264, and costs 120 Mana instead of 180), and Rip now has its first rank learned from the quest The Great Cat Spirit, not the trainer. See the Druid changes page, the Druid talent calculator and the Balance Druid simulator for the full picture.

I do not accept level 30 sim numbers to succeed to be the end all be all DPS chart for phase one. DoubleT Gaming, WoW Forever: 7 Things NOT to Do on Launch (4:34)

The beta cap is 30, so every sim and every tier list is a level 30 one, and the client can't show how a spec performs at level 60. The hunter the video points to may top the charts early but not at endgame; nobody can check that yet. You can compare specs at the cap with our Beast Mastery, Marksmanship and Survival simulators, and read the Hunter changes.

Still to check

Endgame (level 60) DPS has to wait, because the beta stops at 30. The fish-food experience buff isn't in the readable client data (Blizzard's Deep Dive says only that crafted food "can grant a small experience bonus"), and nor are server-side things like queue sizes. Those stay unconfirmed until someone checks them in game. Each class's changes page, Druid's included, lists what has been reworked from Classic Era.
