The Comeback Kids on the RP-PvP ruleset, raid sizes and the end of beta, checked against the client

· ForeverDB
The Comeback Kids relays Blizzard's launch plans: an RP-PvP ruleset at launch, a commitment to 10 and 20 player raids, and the end-of-beta chaos event. We check the names and numbers against the Forever beta client, which carries the RP-PvP and raid-size labels, Molten Core and the paladin spells the video names, but not the podcast's words, the event drops or the server matters. The named Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit raids are not raid instances in our data yet, though the client's legacy challenges list their bosses (8 and 13).
This checks a community video by The Comeback Kids, not a Blizzard channel, against the WoW Forever live client (build 1.60.1.70532, datamined on 24 October). The creator relays Blizzard's launch podcast and forum reports; where we can, we check the names and numbers against the client's own data. Beta data can change before launch on November 4, 2026.
The video is a launch-week news roundup. The Comeback Kids covers an RP-PvP ruleset said to be coming at launch, episode 5 of the Forever podcast, the end-of-beta chaos event, how the stress test ran for players, and how to pre-download the client. Most of it is story, live-world events and server matters the datamined client can't show. Here is what the client does hold, claim by claim.

The short version
- The Comeback Kids says Blizzard confirmed an RP-PvP ruleset at launch on November 4th, aiming to have it ready for early name reservations on October 27th (the creator calls the date not fully confirmed). The client does carry a "(RP PvP)" realm-type label in its own interface text.
- Blizzard wants to keep raids at 10 and 20 players going forward, the creator says, rather than shuffling sizes, and likes two 10s combining into a 20. The client has "10 Player" and "20 Player" raid-size labels; it has no 40-player label in our data.
- The named first raids, Barrow Deeps for 10 and Hyjal Summit for 20, are not in our raid data as instances. They only show up as map features in earlier datamining, so we can't check their size or bosses yet.
- The paladin talk (Holy Shock, Exorcism, a Divine Storm build, Blessing of Salvation, seal twisting) is opinion, but the spells themselves are in the client and we list their real numbers below.
- The beta-end event, the stress-test reports and the client pre-download are live-world and launcher matters the client can't confirm.
Claim by claim
| Claim | The Comeback Kids says | The client says | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| RP-PvP ruleset at launch | Blizzard reversed course; an RP-PvP ruleset is coming at launch on November 4th, aiming to be ready for name reservations on October 27th (not fully confirmed). | The client has the realm-type label "(RP PvP)" in its interface text. The launch and reservation dates aren't in the client. | Label confirmed; dates can't be checked |
| 10 and 20 player raids going forward | Blizzard wants to consistently support 10 and 20 player raids as new content comes, and likes two 10s combining into a 20. | The client has "10 Player" and "20 Player" raid-size labels. No 40-player label in our data. | Labels confirmed |
| Barrow Deeps (10) and Hyjal Summit (20) as the first raids | The initial setup is Barrow Deeps for 10 and Hyjal Summit for 20, plus a 40-man raid. | Neither is in our raid data as an instance. Barrow Deeps shows only as a Winterspring map gate and Hyjal Summit as the Summit of Eternity on Mount Hyjal in earlier datamining. | Can't check yet |
| Molten Core reimagined, Golemagg no tank-and-spank | Blizzard described raids like Molten Core as revamped or reimagined; Aggrend said we should not expect to tank and spank Golemagg. Mechanics not revealed. | Molten Core is a 40-player raid in our data (/dungeon/409) with Golemagg the Incinerator among its bosses. No new mechanics in the client. | Raid and boss confirmed; mechanics can't be checked |
| Secrets still hidden in the first 30 levels | Aggrend confirmed content hidden within the first 30 levels; a Duskwood quest and its NPC spawns were off the first beta week, then switched on. | Duskwood is a zone in our data (/maps/1431). The client doesn't expose which quests or spawns a server has toggled. | Can't check yet |
| Future content tied to manors and instance portals | Michael tied future content to homes and instance portals players found; the creator guesses the Duskwood houses and a dig-site instance in the Barrens. | These are the creator's guesses. Our data has Duskwood as a zone but no such instances. | Creator's guess |
| Staff of Dominance from a level 3 scorpion | A player's level-two orc killed a level-three scorpion in the event and got the Staff of Dominance and the judgment leggings; special event drops with adjusted stats. | Staff of Dominance is an item in our data (/item/288906). The judgment leggings aren't one item we can match by that name, and event drop rules aren't in the client. | Item exists; the drop can't be checked |
| Patchwerk rampaging through Goldshire | Patchwerk was 300 ft tall and gaining a level with each kill. | Event behaviour isn't in the client data. | Can't check |
| The stress test ran smoothly | Forum players reported busy starting zones with smooth performance and little lag; one zone felt empty, put down to layering. | Server performance and layering aren't in the client. | Can't check |
| Pre-download the launch client | You can pre-download the client from Battle.net under the game development version dropdown, before November 1st. | The launcher and its downloads aren't part of the client data. | Can't check |
Claims are the creator relaying Blizzard's podcast and player reports; the client is our datamined build 1.60.1.70532.
The paladin spells the video names
The spec talk is the creator's opinion, but each spell it mentions is in the Forever client. Here is what the client holds, with the Classic Era value only as a comparison. See the Paladin talent calculator, Paladin changes and the Retribution Paladin simulator.
- Holy Shock Holy Shock is a Holy talent at tier 5, which opens at level 30, the beta's cap. One rank does 129 to 139 Holy damage to an enemy, or 110 to 118 healing to an ally, on a 10 second cooldown for 160 mana at 20 yards. In Classic Era it sat higher up the tree, at Holy tier 7, with three ranks; the cooldown is 10 seconds here instead of 30. So a damage-dealing Holy Shock was reachable in the beta.
- Exorcism Exorcism is learned from the trainer at level 20. Rank 1 does 74 to 84 Holy damage to Undead or Demon targets; the top rank (rank 6, level 60) does 475 to 529. It deals less than Classic Era at every rank. This is the exorcism in the "divine storm exorcism type build" the creator contrasts with seal twisting.
- Divine Storm Divine Storm is a Season of Discovery spell still sitting in the Forever client files: an instant attack for 110% of weapon damage to up to 4 enemies within 8 yards, healing up to 3 of your group for 25% of the damage. Nothing in Forever, no trainer, quest or talent, teaches it, so the divine storm build the creator mentions can't be built from the client as it stands.
- Salvation Salvation, the "blessing of salvation" the creator likes, is learned at level 26 and reduces the target party member's threat by 30%. It is renamed from Blessing of Salvation and now lasts 1 hour instead of Classic Era's 5 minutes.
On "the taunt": the creator means the Protection Paladin's new taunt. Judging Seal of Fury Seal of Fury, a trainer spell from level 10, deals Holy damage and "taunts the target to attack you for 4 sec"; in Classic Era Paladins had no taunt. See the Paladin changes.
Three names in the video match spell names by accident. "Feedback" means player feedback, not the Priest spell Feedback; "Blizzard" is the company, not the Mage spell Blizzard; and "Wrath of the Lich King" is the expansion the creator compares raid design to, not the Druid spell Wrath. None of those spells is a claim in the video.
Where the client and Blizzard differ
- The Divine Storm build: the creator talks about a Divine Storm playstyle; the client only carries Divine Storm as a Season of Discovery leftover with no way to learn it in Forever.
- "The taunt" for paladins: not a difference. Paladins taunt by judging Seal of Fury Seal of Fury, which "taunts the target to attack you for 4 sec".
- The first raids and a 40-man raid: named as Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and a 40-player raid; our data has no raid instances under those names and no 40-player raid-size label.
What we have, and what we don't
- The client has the "(RP PvP)" realm-type label, the "10 Player" and "20 Player" raid-size labels, Molten Core as a 40-player raid with Golemagg the Incinerator (/dungeon/409), Duskwood (/maps/1431), the Staff of Dominance (/item/288906), and the paladin spells the video names.
- The client lacks Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit as raid instances, any 40-player raid-size label, the podcast's words, the event's drop rules, stress-test performance, and the Battle.net pre-download.
- Players can't test much of it yet. The beta closed on Friday, October 23rd, and its cap was level 30, so the endgame raids, Golemagg's reworked fight and any content above level 30 can't be reached until launch on November 4th.
