Bellular Warcraft on where WoW Forever goes next, checked against the client

Hunter, Rogue, Mage and Druid talent tree paintings from the WoW Forever client

· ForeverDB

Bellular Warcraft walks through a Blizzard PAX Australia slide that maps where WoW Forever might grow after launch, from Quel'Thalas and Grim Batol to Azshara and a full Emerald Dream zone. Little of it can be tested yet, but the client does have the new Riverglades zone, the Brotherhood of the Horse faction and a new Mount Hyjal map.

This is a community video by Bellular Warcraft, not a Blizzard broadcast. Everything below is the creator's reading of a PAX Australia panel and the game files. We checked the names against the Forever client (build 1.60.1.70532) and say where it confirms a place, dungeon or faction and where it can't.

Bellular Warcraft shows a Blizzard PAX Australia slide that circles parts of Azeroth the team wants to build out, then talks through the lore behind each one: Quel'Thalas, Gilneas, Grim Batol, Azshara, Mount Hyjal and a proper Emerald Dream zone. There are almost no numbers to test in a zones and lore video, and the beta still caps at level 30, so we checked the names against the client's own zone, dungeon, faction and area data.

Places, factions and dungeons the video names, checked against the client.

Zones and lore the client can back up

The best-supported part of the video is the Riverglades, the new zone the creator uses as the launch example. It is in the client as a new Forever zone (Riverglades, map 2548), so the landmass east of Redridge is in the game. There is also the Brotherhood of the Horse faction, whose own description matches the video almost word for word: outcast members of Stormwind's cavalry who started anew along the eastern coast.

Dungeon 169 in the client is called Emerald Dream, but it is an old unused map that has been in the files since Classic, with no bosses and no level. That makes it neither a Forever raid nor the open-world Emerald Dream zone the video hopes for. Dire Maul is there with the boss Prince Tortheldrin, the highborn leader the creator describes, and the client even has an area named Valley of Bones, the route the video says leads to the hidden highborn city.

Places that are only names so far

Most of the circled map is still just lore. The client has no zones for Quel'Thalas, Gilneas or Grim Batol, and no high elf race. Azshara and Winterspring are Classic zones already in the game, and Mount Hyjal has a new zone map (map 2482) with no quests or mobs we know of yet. Some spots, Outland and the Black Morass among them, exist only as area names, which is a long way from a playable zone. Karazhan (a Deadwind Pass subzone), the Valley of Bones (in Desolace), Dire Maul, Felwood and Silithus are all Classic places, so finding them in the client says nothing about where Forever goes next. As for the Battle for Gilneas instance the video says is already in the files, we couldn't find it in our dungeon data, so treat it as a creator report for now.

A note on the captions

The automatic captions turn a few ordinary words into class ability names; they are not claims about those abilities. For the record, "Blizzard" is also the Mage spell Blizzard (learned at level 20), "Dive into the lore" catches the Hunter pet ability Dive (level 30), and "Dire Maul" catches the Druid's Maul (level 10). "Druids of the claw" matches both the Druid's Claw at level 20 and the Hunter pet's Claw at level 1. "Kick it off" brings up the Rogue's Kick (level 12), "Another opportunity" the Rogue talent Opportunity in the first Subtlety tier, which opens at level 10, and the Druid's Thorns (level 6) gets matched too.

The real class changes are on the Mage, Rogue, Druid and Hunter pages.
