Orc Warlock: your first 10 levels
Updated · ForeverDB
A gentle start for an Orc Warlock in WoW Forever: where your trainer stands in Valley of Trials, your spells up to level 10, your class quests, the racials that help and the best professions.
Written for the WoW Forever beta, for your first 10 levels. Where each person stands comes from what players recorded in WoW Forever wherever we have it. Anything else is marked: "Classic data" means the spot comes from the original game and may have moved in Forever.
Right now
Welcome! You're an Orc Warlock, and you start in Valley of Trials. Here are the three things you need first. Take your time: nothing here is in a rush.
- You appear at 43.3, 68.8 in Valley of Trials.
- Your first quest: talk to Kaltunk (43.3, 68.6), next to where you appear.
- Your Warlock trainer is Nartok at 40.6, 68.4, 145 yards west of where you appear (seen once in Forever, not confirmed). Walk: 160 yards, 25 sec.
- Your class quest: Gornek also has Tainted Parchment for you. It sends you to your trainer, and it's free experience.
Tip: If you die, that's fine: everyone does. Click Release Spirit, run back to your body as a ghost, and carry on. Fight one enemy at a time and eat or drink between fights.
Playing a Warlock at first
You use dark magic and command demons. Your spells hurt enemies over time, and a demon fights at your side. You use mana.
- Put Immolate on an enemy, then cast Shadow Bolt.
- Keep Demon Skin on yourself.
- From level 4, add Corruption for damage over time.
Tip: Your first demon, the Imp, comes from a short class quest in your starting area. It helps a lot, so do that quest as soon as it's offered.
Tip: From level 6, Life Tap turns health into mana. Then eat to get the health back.
Your spells up to level 10
You start with your level 1 spells. The rest you learn from your trainer, for a few coins, at levels 4, 6, 8, 10. A few come from class quests instead. From the WoW Forever game client:

Your racials as a Warlock
- Blood Fury: A short burst of more damage. Press it at the start of a hard fight.
- Hardiness: Stuns on you end sooner.
- Shatter Curse: Clears curses off you, and you take a little less magic damage for a short time.
Professions
For a Warlock, the best pair is Tailoring and Enchanting. Tailoring makes cloth armor you can wear from the cloth that enemies drop. Enchanting turns gear you don't need into magic dust that makes your gear better, and it makes wands.
Tip: Not sure yet? Pick two gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining or Skinning). They make money from the very first herb, vein or beast, and you can swap one for a crafting profession later. Dropping a profession loses its skill, so decide before you've raised it far.
More on this: the best professions for each class.
After level 10
At level 10 you get your first talent point. Our Warlock leveling guide takes you on from there, and the leveling guide shows where to go next. Your first dungeon comes a bit later: see your first dungeon.
