Dwarf Hunter: your first 10 levels
Updated · ForeverDB
A gentle start for a Dwarf Hunter in WoW Forever: where your trainer stands in Coldridge Valley, your spells up to level 10, your class quests, the racials that help and the best professions.
Written for the WoW Forever beta, for your first 10 levels. Where each person stands comes from what players recorded in WoW Forever wherever we have it. Anything else is marked: "Classic data" means the spot comes from the original game and may have moved in Forever.
Right now
Welcome! You're a Dwarf Hunter, and you start in Coldridge Valley. Here are the three things you need first. Take your time: nothing here is in a rush.
- You appear at 29.9, 72.0 in Coldridge Valley.
- Your first quest: talk to Sten Stoutarm (29.9, 71.3), 20 yards north of where you appear.
- Your Hunter trainer is Thorgas Grimson at 29.1, 67.5, 150 yards north of where you appear (seen in Forever). Walk: 235 yards, 35 sec.
- Your class quest: Sten Stoutarm also has Etched Rune for you. It sends you to your trainer, and it's free experience.
Tip: If you die, that's fine: everyone does. Click Release Spirit, run back to your body as a ghost, and carry on. Fight one enemy at a time and eat or drink between fights.
Playing a Hunter at first
You shoot from a distance with a bow or a gun, and at level 10 you tame a beast to fight beside you. You use mana for your shots and tricks.
- Stand back and press Auto Shot. It keeps shooting on its own.
- If something reaches you, hit it with Raptor Strike.
- From level 4, open with Serpent Sting for extra damage over time.
Tip: Your shots need ammunition (arrows for a bow, bullets for a gun). Buy plenty at the general goods vendor and keep some spare.
Tip: Your pet comes at level 10 from your class quest. Until then, keep enemies at a distance.
Your spells up to level 10
You start with your level 1 spells. The rest you learn from your trainer, for a few coins, at levels 4, 6, 8, 10. A few come from class quests instead. From the WoW Forever game client:

Your racials as a Hunter
- Big Game Hunter: More damage to beasts. You fight a lot of wolves, boars and spiders while leveling.
- Stoneform: Clears bleeds, poisons and diseases and makes you tougher for a few seconds. Great for anyone who fights up close.
Professions
For a Hunter, the best pair is Leatherworking and Skinning. Leatherworking makes leather armor you can wear, and Skinning takes leather from the beasts you kill anyway, so you never have to buy it.
Tip: Not sure yet? Pick two gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining or Skinning). They make money from the very first herb, vein or beast, and you can swap one for a crafting profession later. Dropping a profession loses its skill, so decide before you've raised it far.
More on this: the best professions for each class.
After level 10
At level 10 you get your first talent point. Our Hunter leveling guide takes you on from there, and the leveling guide shows where to go next. Your first dungeon comes a bit later: see your first dungeon.
