Dwarf: a guide for new players
Updated · ForeverDB
New to WoW Forever as a Dwarf? Your racials from the game client and what they're good for, which classes you can play and why, your languages, professions, and where you start.
Written for the WoW Forever beta, for your first 10 levels. Where each person stands comes from what players recorded in WoW Forever wherever we have it. Anything else is marked: "Classic data" means the spot comes from the original game and may have moved in Forever.
In short
Dwarves are tough mountain folk from Ironforge who love a good brew and a good fight. Their racials make them hard to kill and good at hunting beasts.
- Faction: Alliance.
- You start in: Coldridge Valley, in Dun Morogh.
- Home city: Ironforge.
- Classes: Hunter, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warrior.
- Languages: Common and Dwarven (from the game client).
Racials
Racials are abilities and bonuses that only your race has. You have them from level 1. Here they are with the words the WoW Forever game client uses, and what they're good for.
| Racial | What it does | Good for | Compared with Classic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Big Game Hunter | Damage dealt versus Beasts increased by 5%. | More damage to beasts. You fight a lot of wolves, boars and spiders while leveling. | New in Forever |
| Find Treasure | Allows the dwarf to sense nearby treasure, making it appear on the minimap. Lasts until cancelled. | Shows treasure chests on your minimap, for a little extra money. | Same as Classic |
| Stoneform | Instantly removes and grants immunity to all Bleed, Poison, and Disease effects, and reduces all Physical damage taken by 10% for 8 sec. | Clears bleeds, poisons and diseases and makes you tougher for a few seconds. Great for anyone who fights up close. | Changed. In Classic: While active, grants immunity to Bleed, Poison, and Disease effects. In addition, Armor increased by 10%. Lasts 8 sec. |
| [[spell:-1]] | Increases your chance to hit with spells and attacks by 1%. | New in Forever |
Classes
A Dwarf can be any of these classes. Every pick is a fine pick: choose the one that sounds fun. Each link opens a guide for your first 10 levels with that class.
| Class | Why it fits | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Hunter | Big Game Hunter adds 5% damage against Beasts, which you fight a lot while leveling, and Stoneform clears poisons and bleeds. | Dwarf Hunter |
| Paladin | [[spell:-1]] adds 1% hit chance with spells and attacks, and Stoneform is a strong defensive button for tanks. | Dwarf Paladin |
| Priest | [[spell:-1]] adds 1% hit chance to your spells, and Stoneform clears poisons, diseases and bleeds. | Dwarf Priest |
| Rogue | Helpful racials: Stoneform. | Dwarf Rogue |
| Shaman | The only Alliance Shaman. [[spell:-1]] adds 1% hit chance to spells and attacks, and Stoneform is a strong defensive button. | Dwarf Shaman |
| Warrior | [[spell:-1]] adds 1% hit chance, and Stoneform clears bleeds, poisons and diseases and cuts Physical damage taken by 10% for 8 sec, a tank's emergency button. | Dwarf Warrior |

Professions
In WoW Forever no Dwarf racial helps a profession, so pick by your class.
The best pair depends on your class: see the best professions for each class.
Where you start
Every Dwarf starts in Coldridge Valley. Our Coldridge Valley guide shows where everything is, with map pins and walking routes, and the quests in order up to level 10.
