Paladin macros

Paladin macros for WoW Forever: heals, cleanses and blessings on the friend under your mouse, Lay on Hands and Blessing of Protection with a self-cast key, a Seal that follows your shield, Holy Strike with Judgement, a Judgement taunt for tanks and Hammer of Justice on your focus. Forever changed the class a lot: Judgement no longer uses up your Seal and has its own 10 sec cooldown, Holy Strike is a new instant strike at level 6, and Seal of Fury is a new tank Seal at level 10 whose Judgement taunts.

19 Paladin macros for WoW Forever, each with the code to copy, what it does, how to use it and the level it needs. Every spell name, rank and command is checked against the Forever beta client (build 1.60.1.70170); none has been tested in the beta yet. Macros above the level 30 cap are marked Speculation.

Healing and cleansing

Every heal here goes to the friend under your mouse, then your friendly target, then you. None of them can pick the most injured player for you: you choose who to heal by where you point.

Holy Light on your mouseover, Shift for Flash of Light

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,help,nodead][mod:shift,help,nodead][mod:shift,@player] Flash of Light; [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Holy Light

What it does. Casts Holy Light on the friend under your mouse, or your friendly target, or yourself. With Shift held it casts Flash of Light on the same person instead.

How to use it. Bind it to your main heal key and point at party frames or players. Use Holy Light for big hits and Shift for a quick, cheap top-up. With an enemy targeted and nobody under your mouse, it heals you, so you can heal yourself mid-fight while levelling.

Why it's useful. Your two heals on one key, and you never have to drop your enemy target to heal. That matters most for a Paladin, who heals between melee swings.

Needs: Flash of Light (level 20), Holy Light (level 1).

Usable from level 1. 169/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Flash of Light comes at level 20 in the client; until then Shift does nothing.
  • In the client, Holy Light has a 2.5 sec cast and Flash of Light 1.5 sec.
  • A macro can't read health bars: it heals whoever you point at, not whoever is lowest.

Holy Light rank 2, a cheap heal

#showtooltip Holy Light
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Holy Light(Rank 2)

What it does. Casts rank 2 of Holy Light on the friend under your mouse, your friendly target or yourself, whatever your highest rank is.

How to use it. Keep it next to your normal Holy Light key. Use it for small amounts of damage, such as a tank's first few hits or topping someone up after a pull. Change the 2 to another rank as you level.

Why it's useful. Forever keeps spell ranks, and a lower rank costs much less mana. In the client, rank 2 heals 76 to 90 for 60 mana, while rank 3 (level 14) heals 142 to 168 for 110 mana. Most healing in a dungeon doesn't need the big one.

Needs: Holy Light (Rank 2, level 6).

Usable from level 6. 95/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Typed exactly as the client's spellbook writes it when you shift-click a rank into the macro window: Holy Light(Rank 2), with no space before the bracket.
  • Every rank has the same 2.5 sec cast, so a low rank saves mana, not time. For speed, use Flash of Light.

Purify your mouseover or yourself

#showtooltip Purify
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Purify

What it does. Removes 1 poison and 1 disease from the friend under your mouse, your friendly target or you.

How to use it. Point at a poisoned or diseased party member's frame and press it. Keep fighting or healing between presses.

Why it's useful. Poisons and diseases on the tank add up fast. Cleansing without a target swap takes one press and keeps your target where it was.

Needs: Purify (level 8).

Usable from level 8. 79/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client, one Purify removes one disease and one poison together.
  • At level 42 you learn Cleanse, which also removes 1 magic effect: change Purify to Cleanse in both lines.

Lay on Hands on your mouseover, Alt for yourself

#showtooltip Lay on Hands
/cast [mod:alt,@player][@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Lay on Hands

What it does. Casts Lay on Hands on the friend under your mouse, or your friendly target, or you. Holding Alt always casts it on you.

How to use it. Keep it for emergencies: the tank about to die, or you in a fight you can't run from. Hold Alt when your mouse is over someone else but you're the one in trouble.

Why it's useful. Lay on Hands heals for your whole maximum health. The worst time to find it on the wrong person is when someone is about to die.

Needs: Lay on Hands (level 10).

Usable from level 10. 108/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client it drains all your remaining mana, so expect to drink afterwards.
  • The Forever client gives it a 20 minute cooldown (rank 1, level 10).

Redemption on the dead player under your mouse

#showtooltip Redemption
/cast [@mouseover,help,dead][help,dead] Redemption

What it does. Casts Redemption on the dead player under your mouse, or on your target if it's a dead friend. It does nothing when neither is dead.

How to use it. After a wipe or a death, point at the body or the party frame and press it.

Why it's useful. Clicking a corpse in a pile of enemy bodies is fiddly. The dead check means it never starts on a living player by mistake.

Needs: Redemption (level 12).

Usable from level 12. 74/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • The client's tooltip says it can't be cast in combat. It has a 10 sec cast; rank 1 brings them back with 65 health and 120 mana.

Holy Shock your mouseover, friend or enemy

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,exists,nodead][mod:shift] Light's Vigil; [@mouseover,help,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Holy Shock

What it does. Casts Holy Shock on whoever is under your mouse: it heals a friend or hits an enemy. With no mouseover it goes on your target. With Shift, it puts Light's Vigil on the mouseover or target instead.

How to use it. Point at an injured friend to heal them, or at an enemy to hit it, and press. Holy Paladins with Light's Vigil: Shift-press it on the tank first, then Holy Shock them for the party heal.

Why it's useful. Holy Shock does both jobs, so one key covers both depending on where you point, and you never need to change target.

Needs: Light's Vigil (level 40, Holy talent), Holy Shock (level 30, Holy talent).

Usable from level 30. Works at the cap without Light's Vigil (level 40): that part is above the beta's level 30 cap. 143/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Holy Shock is a Holy talent (level 30 tier) in Forever. In the client rank 1 deals 129 to 139 Holy damage or heals 110 to 118, with a 10 sec cooldown and a 20 yard range.
  • Light's Vigil is a new Holy talent (level 40 tier): the next Holy Shock on that target has no cooldown and, on an ally, heals their party. Only one Light's Vigil can be up per party.

Divine Favor, then Holy Light

#showtooltip Divine Favor
/cast Divine Favor
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Holy Light

What it does. Uses Divine Favor, then casts Holy Light on the friend under your mouse, your friendly target or you. Divine Favor makes that Holy Light a certain critical heal.

How to use it. Keep it for the moment you need one very large heal. When Divine Favor is on cooldown, the key just casts Holy Light.

Why it's useful. Divine Favor is wasted if the next heal is a small Flash of Light you didn't mean. Tying it to Holy Light makes sure it lands on the big one.

Needs: Divine Favor (level 25, Holy talent), Holy Light (level 1).

Usable from level 25. 108/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Divine Favor is a Holy talent (level 25 tier). The client gives it a 2 minute cooldown and no global cooldown, so both lines go off on one press.
  • Every press uses Divine Favor when it's ready. Don't make this your everyday Holy Light key.

Blessings and auras

A player can have one Blessing from each Paladin at a time. Blessings go on the friend under your mouse, or on you when you're not pointing at anyone.

Might, Wisdom or Kings on one key

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,help,nodead][mod:shift,@player] Blessing of Wisdom; [mod:ctrl,@mouseover,help,nodead][mod:ctrl,@player] Blessing of Kings; [@mouseover,help,nodead][@player] Blessing of Might

What it does. Blessing of Might on its own, Blessing of Wisdom with Shift and Blessing of Kings with Ctrl, each on the friend under your mouse or on you.

How to use it. Before a pull, point at each party frame and press it with the right modifier: Might for melee, Wisdom for healers and casters, Kings for anyone once you have it.

Why it's useful. Blessings last an hour but you give them out often, after deaths and when people join. Three on one key saves bar slots and target swaps.

Needs: Blessing of Wisdom (level 14), Blessing of Kings (level 20), Blessing of Might (level 4).

Usable from level 4. 215/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client, Blessing of Wisdom comes at level 14 and Blessing of Kings at 20 (from the trainer). Until then that modifier does nothing.
  • Blessing of Kings in the client raises total stats by 10% for 1 hour.

Blessing of Protection on your mouseover, Alt for yourself

#showtooltip Blessing of Protection
/stopcasting
/cast [mod:alt,@player][@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Blessing of Protection

What it does. Stops your current cast and puts Blessing of Protection on the friend under your mouse, your friendly target or you. Alt always puts it on you.

How to use it. Press it when a cloth wearer has a melee enemy on them, or with Alt when you need it yourself. Don't use it on the tank: they can't attack while it's up.

Why it's useful. It saves lives in a second, so it has to go on the right person without any delay.

Needs: Blessing of Protection (level 10).

Usable from level 10. 141/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client, rank 1 makes the target immune to physical attacks for 6 sec, but they can't attack or use physical abilities. The cooldown is 5 minutes.
  • The client's tooltip says it applies Forbearance for 1 min and can't be cast on someone who has Forbearance. Divine Protection gives you Forbearance too, so you can't use both on yourself within a minute.

Blessing of Freedom on your mouseover or yourself

#showtooltip Blessing of Freedom
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Blessing of Freedom

What it does. Puts Blessing of Freedom on the friend under your mouse, your friendly target or you.

How to use it. Press it when you or a friend is rooted or slowed, in PvP or when a runner needs to escape.

Why it's useful. A slowed or rooted friend needs it right now, and finding their frame, clicking it and clicking the spell takes too long.

Needs: Blessing of Freedom (level 18).

Usable from level 18. 105/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client it gives immunity to movement impairing effects for 10 sec, with a 20 sec cooldown. It needs level 18.

Your auras on one key

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Retribution Aura; [mod:ctrl] Concentration Aura; Devotion Aura

What it does. Devotion Aura on its own, Retribution Aura with Shift and Concentration Aura with Ctrl.

How to use it. Press it at the start of a session and whenever the situation changes: Devotion for armour, Retribution when lots of enemies hit your group, Concentration when your healers are being interrupted.

Why it's useful. You change auras now and then, not every fight. One key saves three bar slots.

Needs: Retribution Aura (level 16), Concentration Aura (level 22), Devotion Aura (level 1).

Usable from level 1. 93/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client, Retribution Aura comes at 16 and Concentration Aura at 22. Until then those modifiers do nothing.
  • Only one aura from each Paladin can be on a player at a time.

Seals, Judgement and damage

In Forever, Judgement doesn't use up your Seal: the client's tooltip says "Does not consume the Seal", and Judgement has its own 10 sec cooldown and a 10 yard range. So you keep one Seal up and judge whenever Judgement is ready. Judgement doesn't trigger the global cooldown in the client, which is why it can share a key with another attack.

Seal of Fury with a shield, Seal of Righteousness without

#showtooltip
/cast [equipped:Shields] Seal of Fury; Seal of Righteousness

What it does. Casts Seal of Fury when you have a shield equipped, and Seal of Righteousness when you don't.

How to use it. Use it as your one Seal key. Swap to a shield for tanking or to a two-handed weapon for damage, and the key follows your gear.

Why it's useful. Seal of Fury's absorb shield only works with a shield equipped, so it's the tank Seal. With a two-hander, Seal of Righteousness does more. The macro picks by what you're holding.

Needs: Seal of Fury (level 10), Seal of Righteousness (level 1).

Usable from level 10. 73/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Seal of Fury is new in Forever (level 10). In the client, rank 1 adds 6 Holy damage to each melee attack for 30 sec, and while a shield is equipped each attack also gives you an absorb shield equal to 50% of that Holy damage.
  • Retribution Paladins with the Seal of Command talent can change Seal of Righteousness to Seal of Command.
  • The client calls the item type "Shields".

Holy Strike with Judgement, Shift to hold Judgement

#showtooltip Holy Strike
/startattack
/cast [nomod:shift] Judgement
/cast Holy Strike

What it does. Starts your auto-attack, uses Judgement if it's ready, and casts Holy Strike. With Shift held it skips Judgement and only strikes.

How to use it. Press it in melee as your main attack. When Judgement is on cooldown its line fails with an error and Holy Strike still goes off. Hold Shift when you want to save Judgement, for example to taunt with it later.

Why it's useful. Both have short cooldowns and Judgement is off the global cooldown in the client, so on one key you use Judgement as soon as it's ready without spending a press on it.

Needs: Judgement (level 4), Holy Strike (level 6).

Usable from level 6. 85/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Holy Strike is new in Forever at level 6: an instant strike for 25% weapon damage plus 10 to 14 Holy damage at rank 1, with a 10 sec cooldown. It needs a melee weapon.
  • Judgement has a 10 yard range, and what it does depends on the Seal you have up.
  • The macro can't hold Holy Strike back while it's on cooldown: that press just keeps your auto-attack going.

Judge the Crusader, then switch to Righteousness

#showtooltip
/startattack
/castsequence reset=target/combat Seal of the Crusader, Judgement, Seal of Righteousness

What it does. A cast sequence: the first press casts Seal of the Crusader, the second judges it on the enemy, the third switches you to Seal of Righteousness.

How to use it. Press it three times at the start of a longer fight, such as an elite or a dungeon boss. Keep a normal Seal key for the rest of the fight.

Why it's useful. In the client, Seal of the Crusader's Judgement makes the enemy take up to 23 more Holy damage for 40 sec, and your melee hits refresh it. Since Judgement no longer uses up the Seal, you then swap to a damage Seal yourself; the sequence does the three steps in order.

Needs: Seal of the Crusader (level 6), Judgement (level 4), Seal of Righteousness (level 1).

Usable from level 6. 114/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • A cast sequence only moves on when the current step actually casts. If Judgement is on cooldown or you're more than 10 yards away, it stays on that step until it works.
  • It starts again from the first step when you change target or leave combat (reset=target/combat), and when you die.
  • Only one Judgement per Paladin can be on an enemy at a time, so this one replaces any other Judgement you put on it.

Tank: Judgement taunt on your mouseover, Shift resets it

#showtooltip Judgement
/cast [mod:shift] Swift Judgement
/cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Judgement

What it does. Judges the enemy under your mouse, or your target. With Seal of Fury up, that taunts it. With Shift it first uses Swift Judgement, which finishes Judgement's cooldown, so you can judge again right away.

How to use it. Keep Seal of Fury up. When an enemy runs to a healer, point at it and press. If you need a second taunt straight after, press it with Shift.

Why it's useful. In the client, Seal of Fury's Judgement deals 22 to 24 Holy damage and taunts the target for 4 sec (rank 1). That makes Judgement the Forever Paladin's taunt, and pulling a loose enemy back without losing your main target keeps a pull under control.

Needs: Swift Judgement (level 25, Protection talent), Judgement (level 4).

Usable from level 4. 99/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Judgement's range is 10 yards, so you have to be close.
  • Swift Judgement is a new Protection talent (level 25 tier). In the client it has a 1 minute cooldown, triggers no global cooldown and makes your next Judgement free.
  • Judgement only taunts while Seal of Fury (level 10) is your Seal; with another Seal it does that Seal's Judgement instead.

Consecration with auto-attack

#showtooltip Consecration
/startattack
/cast Consecration

What it does. Starts your auto-attack on your target and casts Consecration on the ground under you.

How to use it. Stand in the middle of the pack and press it every time its cooldown is up while tanking several enemies.

Why it's useful. Tanks lose threat when they forget to swing. This keeps your melee going while you put down area damage.

Needs: Consecration (level 20).

Usable from level 20. 57/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client, rank 1 does 16 Holy damage over 8 sec to enemies in the area, and the first 4 enemies to enter take another 32 damage over 8 sec. It has an 8 sec cooldown and needs level 20.

Exorcism, Shift for Turn Undead

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,harm,nodead][mod:shift] Turn Undead; [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Exorcism

What it does. Exorcism on the enemy under your mouse or your target; with Shift, Turn Undead instead.

How to use it. Use it against Undead and Demons, which Exorcism only works on. Turn Undead one Undead enemy away from the fight with Shift while you deal with the rest.

Why it's useful. Both spells only work on some enemies, so they're rarely worth two bar slots. In undead dungeons and zones, this key does a lot of work.

Needs: Turn Undead (level 24), Exorcism (level 20).

Usable from level 20. 113/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client, rank 1 Exorcism deals 74 to 84 Holy damage with a 15 sec cooldown and a 30 yard range.
  • Turn Undead needs level 24. It makes the target flee for up to 10 sec, damage may break it, and only one target can be turned at a time.

Stuns and survival

Hammer of Justice is your stun and your only interrupt at low level. Divine Protection is your emergency button.

Hammer of Justice your focus, mouseover or target

#showtooltip Hammer of Justice
/stopcasting
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Hammer of Justice

What it does. Stops your own cast, then stuns your focus, or the enemy under your mouse, or your target.

How to use it. Set an enemy caster or healer as your focus. When it starts a cast, or a runner gets away, press it. Without a focus, point at the enemy or just target it.

Why it's useful. A stun stops a cast, so this is your interrupt as well as your stun. Stopping your own Holy Light first means it happens the moment you press.

Needs: Hammer of Justice (level 8).

Usable from level 8. 114/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client, rank 1 stuns for 3 sec with a 1 minute cooldown and a 10 yard range.
  • The Improved Hammer of Justice talent in the Protection tree shortens the cooldown.

Divine Protection, Shift to cancel it

#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cancelaura [mod:shift] Divine Protection
/cancelaura [mod:shift] Divine Shield
/cast [nomod] Divine Shield
/cast [nomod] Divine Protection

What it does. Stops your cast and puts up Divine Protection (or Divine Shield once you've learned it). With Shift held it removes the bubble instead.

How to use it. Press it when you're about to die. Once you're safe, Shift-press it to drop the bubble so you can attack again.

Why it's useful. Casting a heal while you're dying is too slow, and a bubble that stays up longer than you need stops you fighting.

Needs: Divine Shield (level 34), Divine Protection (level 6).

Usable from level 6. Works at the cap without Divine Shield (level 34): that part is above the beta's level 30 cap. 165/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client, Divine Protection (level 6) protects you from all physical attacks and spells for 6 sec (8 sec at rank 2), but you can't attack while it's up. It has a 5 minute cooldown.
  • Divine Shield comes at level 34, above the beta's level 30 cap: it protects you from all damage for 10 sec but halves your damage. Before you learn it, its line does nothing.
  • Both apply Forbearance for 1 min, and neither can be cast while you have Forbearance, so the macro never uses both. Protection Paladins with the new Templar's Bulwark talent share that Forbearance too.
