ForeverDB.net Companion addon
The free in-game addon from ForeverDB.net, the World of Warcraft: Forever database. It helps by itself, and one window, opened from the book by your minimap, puts what the site knows into the game. Item and NPC tooltips show it too: new or changed in Forever, the reputation an item needs, who makes it, the recipes it's used in, who sells it and what drops it.
What it does by itself
- Rotation assistant: a live icon of the spell to press next for your spec, its key, and a glow on its action button; it times cooldowns and DoTs from your casts, since Forever hides them from addons in combat.
- Upgrades: every item's tooltip says how it compares with what you wear, for your spec, and a new upgrade pops up with an Equip button.
- Quest rewards: the best choice for your spec is ticked.
- Level-ups: what's new at your class trainer, where your talent point goes, what you can use now, with a map pin to your trainer.
- Talents: ForeverDB's recommended build for your spec, or your own; your next talent glows in the talent window.
- Vendors and professions: what's worth buying lights up; next to your profession window, what to craft for skill and what to learn next.
- The map: your class trainers, weapon masters and profession trainers.
- Quest helper: quests you can pick up, where to hand in and your objectives as pins on the world map and the minimap; a waypoint arrow with the distance (click a pin, Shift- or Ctrl-click the map, or /fdb way 45.2 60.1); your and the cursor's coordinates; a quest tracker, nearest first, with progress; and quest progress on creature and item tooltips. What players saw in Forever comes first; Classic data, from CMaNGOS classic-db, is labelled as such.
- Dungeon helper: inside a dungeon, a small panel with the bosses killed this run, the next one, your dungeon quests and the loot you could still get; with other Companion users in your group, which of the dungeon's quests each has (quest numbers only, never names).
- Bots and gold spam: spots gold and boost spam in public chat (hidden web addresses, real-money gold prices, account and power-leveling selling) and players farming one spot for hours, can hide the spam, and offers to open Blizzard's report window for them. It never reports anyone itself and never uploads a name or a message: only anonymous counts per realm and day, the gold-selling websites and Discord invites the spam advertised (never a Skype, Telegram or WhatsApp name) and the zones where players were flagged for farming, for the gold-seller and bot tracker. You can switch sharing off.
Works with any interface
The Companion isn't an interface of its own. It works on top of whatever you play with, so you keep the bars, frames and look you like: EllesmereUI, ElvUI, Bartender4, Dominos or Blizzard's own. The rotation assistant finds the spell to press next on your action bars, lights up that button and shows the key it's bound to, with nothing to set up.
The ForeverDB window
- My character: your gear, talents and professions as a share code. Paste it on Import from game to see the character, sim it, compare its gear or save it to your armory, no other app needed.
- Finder: type an item, a weapon skill, a profession or a name, and get who sells it or teaches it, where they stand, and a map pin (TomTom's arrow if you have it).
- Professions: what to craft next to level up, coloured orange, yellow and green from your skill, with the reagents you're short of and where each recipe is learned, and the camp features your professions can place.
- Consumables: the best food, drink, potions, elixirs, scrolls and bandages you can use at your level.
- Quests: the quest helper. Your quest log with where to go for each quest, the quests you can pick up where you are, and the new Forever quests players found.
- Dungeons: the dungeon helper. The dungeon you're in or the best for your level: bosses in order with their loot (upgrades for your spec marked), boss tips, your quest checklist and the entrance.
- Talent plan: paste a build from the talent calculator and the addon tells you where each new point goes.
- Rotation: the rotation assistant's options and your spec's rotation card.
- Raid & group: the buff check, raid notes from the raid planner, and your guild's soft reserves.
- Bots & spam: players flagged for gold spam or botting in the last 7 days, with Report and Ignore, and the check's settings. Names never leave your PC.
- Recording: automatic combat logging and what the addon records for ForeverDB, a tick box for each.
- Settings: every setting in sections, each with a line saying what it does, and Reset to defaults. The same settings are in Esc, Options, AddOns, ForeverDB Companion, and the two always match. No slash commands needed.
On screen
Your spec's rotation card, a buff check on every ready check, raid notes from the raid planner, and automatic combat logging in dungeons and raids for the replay page.
What it records
Forever keeps quests, vendors, trainers and item stats on Blizzard's servers. The addon writes down what you see, and in dungeons and raids which boss dropped what, the abilities bosses cast and how long kills take at your level. Sharing it fills in ForeverDB for everyone, as counts that never name you. It also notes where your quest objectives happen, which fills in Forever's new quests. Sharing is optional, three ways: the free ForeverDB Uploader for Windows does it after every session (and keeps the addon up to date); or send it from your WoW folder (one click in Edge or Chrome, or drag and drop); or, for one character's armory page, paste the share code from My character on Import from game.
Updates
The Uploader updates the addon by itself. Without it, download the latest from this page: the addon's About page in the game shows your version, and this page shows the latest.
Credits
The quest helper and dungeon helper use Classic data from CMaNGOS classic-db (GPL-3.0) where Forever's own data doesn't reach yet, in its own file in the addon and always labelled as Classic data.
