ForeverDB Uploader
Optional. A small, free Windows app from ForeverDB.net that works alongside the ForeverDB.net Companion addon and the ForeverDB Helper. Addons can't use the internet, so the uploader does it for them, automatically. You don't need it: foreverdb.net/send does the same with a click.
What it does
- Keeps the addon up to date: installs new versions of the ForeverDB.net Companion into your AddOns folder.
- Keeps its data fresh: vendors, trainers, recipes, camp features, consumables, new quests and talent trees, fetched whenever ForeverDB learns more.
- Shares what you recorded: after you play, uploads the quests, drops, vendors, trainers, beasts, gathering spots, talent builds and dungeon boss fights (which boss dropped what, the abilities it cast, kill times) the addon saved to your ForeverDB account.
- Keeps your armory up to date: each character's gear, talents, professions, reputations and Legacy progress, in your ForeverDB armory, private until you make a character public.
- Tells the addon: the ForeverDB window in game shows that the uploader is linked and how fresh your data is.
Without the Uploader
- Sending: send from your WoW folder on the site (choose the folder once in Edge or Chrome, then one click; or drag and drop in any browser), or copy the ForeverDB Helper's Send to ForeverDB code and paste it on foreverdb.net/send. For one character's armory page, the Companion's share code on Import from game. What you lose: it doesn't happen by itself, you press Send.
- Updates: download the latest Companion and Helper from their pages; each page shows the latest version, and the addon's About page in the game shows yours. What you lose: they don't update by themselves.
What it reads and sends
- It reads the addons' own saved files in
WTF\Account\<account>\SavedVariables: the Companion's ForeverDB.lua and, from version 1.8.0, the ForeverDB Helper's ForeverDB_Helper.lua. - From 1.8.0 it also sends the ForeverDB Helper's anonymous section when the Helper's sharing is on: runs and their times, boss kills with the loot seen and wipes, wishlist item IDs, goal kinds and where scrolls were found. Numbers and IDs only, never a name, a note or a goal's title; they become the drop rates, clear times and most wanted items on the dungeon pages.
- For the shared data it sends only what the upload page takes, with characters as a scrambled code, never their names. For your armory it sends each character's snapshot (name and realm included), which stays private until you make it public. Notes, cards, plans and settings stay on your PC.
- With the Companion's gold-spam check it may also send anonymous counts per realm and day: spam messages and suspects, the gold-selling website domains and Discord invites the spam advertised, and the zones where players were flagged for farming, for the gold-seller and bot tracker. Never a name, a message or a personal contact.
- It never touches the running game: no memory reading, no key presses.
- It only downloads from foreverdb.net and checks every file's SHA-256 checksum before installing it.
- Linking gives it its own key that can only upload addon data; remove it from your profile at any time.
