Warlock Macros

Warlock macros for WoW Forever: your demon's attacks and spells, Seduction, Spell Lock and Devour Magic on your focus or mouseover, Fear and Banish, curses by modifier, soulstones on the healer, and Shadowburn and Drain Soul for shards. In Forever, Curse of Agony is Bane of Agony, and the client's tooltips count Banes and Curses separately, so one of each can sit on the same target. Curse of the Elements is a new trainer spell at level 20, and the Incubus is a trainer summon at 20 beside the Succubus.

19 Warlock macros for WoW Forever, each with the code to copy, what it does, how to use it and the level it needs. Every spell name, rank and command is checked against the Forever beta client (build 1.60.1.70170); none has been tested in the beta yet. Macros above the level 30 cap are marked Speculation.

Your demon

Demon spells are cast by the demon, not by you, so they don't use your global cooldown. The [pet:Imp] style conditions match your demon's family, which the client names Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Incubus and Felhunter.

Send your demon in with its attack

#showtooltip
/petattack
/cast [pet:Voidwalker] Torment; [pet:Succubus/Incubus] Lash of Pain; [pet:Imp] Firebolt

What it does. Sends your demon at your target, and has it open with its own attack: Torment for the Voidwalker, Lash of Pain for the Succubus or Incubus, Firebolt for the Imp.

How to use it. Press it to start each fight, then cast your own spells. It works with whichever demon you have out.

Why it's useful. The Voidwalker needs the first hit to hold the enemy, and the others hit hardest when they start at once. One key does the right thing for every demon.

Needs: Torment (level 10, Voidwalker), Lash of Pain (level 20, Succubus), Firebolt (level 1, Imp).

Usable from level 1. 111/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client Torment is a taunt with a 5 sec cooldown. Lash of Pain is instant, deals 16 Shadow damage at rank 1 and has a 12 sec cooldown. The Imp's Firebolt has a 2 sec cast.
  • Torment comes with the Voidwalker at level 10, Lash of Pain with the Succubus or Incubus at 20.

Demon attack, or call it back and make it passive

/petattack [nomod,@mouseover,harm,nodead][nomod]
/petfollow [mod:shift]
/petpassive [mod:shift]
/petdefensive [mod:ctrl]

What it does. Sends your demon at the enemy under your mouse, or at your target. With Shift it comes back and goes passive; with Ctrl it goes back to defensive.

How to use it. Press Shift and the key before you Fear, Seduce or Banish, or when the demon chases a runner into another pack. Press Ctrl and the key once the danger has passed.

Why it's useful. A demon that keeps biting a feared or seduced enemy breaks the effect. Making it passive as well as calling it back stops it running straight back in.

Usable from level 1. 120/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Pet commands don't use the global cooldown.
  • A passive demon still obeys /petattack; it just never starts a fight by itself.

Summon any demon, with Fel Domination in combat

#showtooltip
/cast [combat] Fel Domination
/cast [mod:shift] Summon Voidwalker; [mod:ctrl] Summon Succubus; [mod:alt] Summon Felhunter; Summon Imp

What it does. Summons your Imp, or the Voidwalker with Shift, the Succubus with Ctrl or the Felhunter with Alt. In combat it casts Fel Domination first, so the summon is quicker and cheaper.

How to use it. Press it with the modifier for the demon you want. If you use the Incubus, change Summon Succubus to Summon Incubus.

Why it's useful. Four summons share one bar slot. When your demon dies mid-fight, the same key gets a new one out fast without you having to remember Fel Domination.

Needs: Fel Domination (level 25, Demonology talent), Summon Voidwalker (level 10), Summon Succubus (level 20), Summon Felhunter (level 30), Summon Imp (level 1).

Usable from level 10. 146/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Fel Domination is a Demonology talent in the level 25 tier. In the client it takes 5.5 sec off your next summon's cast and halves its mana cost, has a 5 min cooldown and doesn't use the global cooldown. Out of combat the [combat] check saves it.
  • Summons have a 10 sec cast in the client. The Succubus comes from a class quest at 20, the Incubus from the trainer at 20, and the Felhunter from a quest at 30.

Health Funnel, or Consume Shadows out of combat

#showtooltip
/cast [nocombat, pet:Voidwalker] Consume Shadows; Health Funnel

What it does. Out of combat with the Voidwalker out, it casts Consume Shadows so the Voidwalker heals itself. Otherwise it channels Health Funnel into your demon.

How to use it. Press it between pulls to get the Voidwalker back to full for free, and in combat when your demon is about to die.

Why it's useful. Health Funnel costs your own health, which you then have to drink back. Consume Shadows heals the Voidwalker from its own mana, so it's the better choice whenever you're out of combat.

Needs: Consume Shadows (level 18, Voidwalker), Health Funnel (level 12).

Usable from level 12. 75/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Health Funnel always goes on your demon: its effects target your pet in the client's spell data, so it needs no [@pet]. It's a channel with 20 yards range. Rank 1 gives 12 health a second for 10 sec, and Forever added "Generates reduced threat" to the tooltip.
  • Consume Shadows (level 18) heals 310 over 10 sec at rank 1 and can't be used in combat. The [nocombat] check looks at you, not at the Voidwalker.

Voidwalker Sacrifice, then Drain Life

#showtooltip Sacrifice
/cast [pet:Voidwalker] Sacrifice
/cast Drain Life

What it does. Sacrifices your Voidwalker for a damage shield, then starts channelling Drain Life on your target.

How to use it. Keep it for fights you're about to lose. Press it once and let Drain Life run; pressing again restarts the channel.

Why it's useful. While the shield holds, damage can't interrupt your spells, so Drain Life runs its full length. Sacrifice doesn't use your global cooldown, so both go off in one press.

Needs: Sacrifice (level 16, Voidwalker), Drain Life (level 14).

Usable from level 16. 72/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client rank 1 Sacrifice (level 16) absorbs 305 damage for 30 sec. The Voidwalker is gone afterwards: summon a new one when the fight is over.
  • Without a Voidwalker the first line does nothing and the macro just casts Drain Life.

Summon, then Demonic Sacrifice

#showtooltip
/cast [pet] Demonic Sacrifice; [mod:shift] Summon Voidwalker; Summon Imp

What it does. With a demon out, it sacrifices it with Demonic Sacrifice. With none out, it summons the Imp, or the Voidwalker with Shift.

How to use it. Press it once to summon, wait for the demon to appear, then press it again to sacrifice it.

Why it's useful. Sacrificing is a two-step job, and one key does both steps.

Needs: Demonic Sacrifice (level 20, Demonology talent), Summon Voidwalker (level 10), Summon Imp (level 1).

Usable from level 20. 85/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Demonic Sacrifice is a Demonology talent in the level 20 tier.
  • Forever swapped the effects round. In the client the Imp now gives 15% more Shadow damage, the Voidwalker 2% of your mana every 4 sec, the Succubus or Incubus 15% more Fire damage, and the Felhunter 3% of your health every 4 sec. The effect lasts 2 hours and ends if you summon a demon.

Seduction on your focus or mouseover

#showtooltip Seduction
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Seduction

What it does. Your Succubus or Incubus casts Seduction on your focus, or on the enemy under your mouse, or on your target.

How to use it. Make the enemy to crowd-control your focus before the pull. When the Seduction breaks or runs out, press this again without changing target.

Why it's useful. Keeping one enemy out of the fight while you and your group kill the others is the Warlock's crowd control in dungeons.

Needs: Seduction (level 26, Succubus).

Usable from level 26. 85/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client Seduction is a level 26 spell for both the Succubus and the Incubus. It has a 1.5 sec cast, lasts up to 15 sec, only works on Humanoids, and any damage breaks it.
  • Set your demon to passive first (see the demon control macro) so it doesn't attack the target.

Spell Lock on your focus or mouseover

#showtooltip Spell Lock
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Spell Lock

What it does. Your Felhunter casts Spell Lock on your focus, or on the enemy under your mouse, or on your target.

How to use it. Make the enemy healer or caster your focus. Press it the moment its cast bar starts.

Why it's useful. An interrupt only counts at the start of the enemy's cast, and the focus means you don't have to change target to do it.

Needs: Spell Lock (level 36, Felhunter).

Speculation: Needs level 36 (Spell Lock), above the beta's level 30 cap. 87/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • It's the Felhunter's spell, so there's no need for /stopcasting: your own spell carries on while the demon casts.
  • In the client rank 1 (level 36) silences for 3 sec, and on a casting enemy it locks that school of magic for 6 sec. It has a 30 sec cooldown and 30 yards range.

Devour Magic on friends or enemies

#showtooltip Devour Magic
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Devour Magic

What it does. Your Felhunter casts Devour Magic on the friend or enemy under your mouse, or on your target.

How to use it. Point at a party member with a harmful magic effect, or at an enemy with a magic buff, and press it.

Why it's useful. Devour Magic both removes debuffs from friends and strips buffs from enemies. Mouseover means you do either without changing target.

Needs: Devour Magic (level 30, Felhunter).

Usable from level 30. 95/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client it purges 1 harmful magic effect from a friend or 1 beneficial magic effect from an enemy, and heals the Felhunter 234 at rank 1 if it removes something. It has an 8 sec cooldown and 30 yards range.
  • The Felhunter comes at level 30.

Fear, Banish and curses

Forever renamed Curse of Agony and Curse of Doom to Bane of Agony and Bane of Doom. The client's tooltips say "Only one Bane per Warlock" and "Only one Curse per Warlock", so your Bane of Agony and a curse such as Curse of the Elements can both be on one target.

Fear your focus or mouseover

#showtooltip Fear
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Fear

What it does. Casts Fear on your focus if it's a living enemy, otherwise on the enemy under your mouse, otherwise on your target.

How to use it. Make the second enemy in a pull your focus and Fear it while you kill the first. Re-Fear it with the same key when it comes back.

Why it's useful. Fearing the extra enemy without swapping targets keeps your DoTs and demon on the one you're killing.

Needs: Fear (level 8).

Usable from level 8. 75/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client Fear has a 1.5 sec cast and 20 yards range, and rank 1 lasts up to 10 sec. Only 1 target can be feared at a time, and damage may break it.
  • A feared enemy can run into other packs. In dungeons, talk to your group before you use it.
  • Curse of Recklessness makes an enemy ignore Fear.

Banish your focus or mouseover

#showtooltip Banish
/cast [@focus,harm,nodead][@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Banish

What it does. Casts Banish on your focus, or on the enemy under your mouse, or on your target.

How to use it. Make the demon or elemental to keep out of the fight your focus before the pull. Re-Banish it without changing target when it's about to run out.

Why it's useful. Banish is the Warlock's crowd control for enemies that Seduction and Fear don't suit, and it's needed again and again in the same fight.

Needs: Banish (level 28).

Usable from level 28. 79/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client Banish only works on Demons and Elementals. It has a 1.5 sec cast and rank 1 lasts up to 20 sec. The banished enemy can't act but can't be hurt either.
  • Only one target can be banished at a time. It needs level 28.

Three curses on one key, on your mouseover

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,harm,nodead][mod:shift] Curse of Recklessness; [mod:ctrl,@mouseover,harm,nodead][mod:ctrl] Curse of the Elements; [@mouseover,harm,nodead][] Curse of Weakness

What it does. Casts Curse of Weakness, or Curse of Recklessness with Shift, or Curse of the Elements with Ctrl, on the enemy under your mouse or on your target.

How to use it. Pick the curse your group needs: Weakness on an enemy hitting the tank hard, Recklessness for physical damage dealers, Elements when your group has casters.

Why it's useful. Curses you swap between for different fights share one key, and mouseover lets you curse a second enemy without losing your target.

Needs: Curse of Recklessness (level 14), Curse of the Elements (level 20), Curse of Weakness (level 4).

Usable from level 4. 199/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Only one Curse per Warlock can be on a target, so a new curse replaces your old one. Your Bane of Agony stays, because it's a Bane.
  • In the client Curse of Weakness rank 1 cuts the target's Physical damage by 4 for 2 min. Curse of Recklessness takes 175 armour off for 2 min and stops the target fleeing; Forever removed Classic's attack power bonus to the target. Curse of the Elements (level 20) lowers Magic resistances by 30 and raises Magic damage taken by 4% for 5 min.

Bane of Agony, with Amplify Curse on Shift

#showtooltip Bane of Agony
/cast [mod:shift] Amplify Curse
/cast Bane of Agony

What it does. Casts Bane of Agony. With Shift, it casts Amplify Curse first, so this Bane is 50% stronger.

How to use it. Use it plain on every target, and with Shift on the target that will live longest, such as a boss.

Why it's useful. Amplify Curse doesn't use the global cooldown in the client, so it goes off in the same press as the Bane and is never wasted on the wrong spell.

Needs: Amplify Curse (level 20, Affliction talent), Bane of Agony (level 8).

Usable from level 20. 78/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Amplify Curse is an Affliction talent in the level 20 tier. In the client it makes your next Curse of Weakness or Bane of Agony 50% stronger (or Curse of Exhaustion 20%) within 30 sec, with a 3 min cooldown.
  • Bane of Agony rank 1 deals 72 Shadow damage over 24 sec, starting slowly and building up.

Bane of Agony, then Immolate

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=target/combat Bane of Agony, Immolate

What it does. The first press casts Bane of Agony and the second Immolate. Changing target or leaving combat starts it again at Bane of Agony.

How to use it. Press it twice on each new enemy, cast Corruption from its own key, then use Shadow Bolt or your wand.

Why it's useful. Putting your damage over time spells on several enemies while levelling is easier when one key walks through them.

Needs: Bane of Agony (level 8), Immolate (level 1).

Usable from level 8. 70/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Corruption is left out on purpose. The client has a sword called Corruption, and its cast sequence code treats any name it knows as an item as an item: it would try to use or equip the sword instead of casting the spell, and the sequence would stick on that step.
  • A cast sequence only moves on when the step's cast succeeds: out of range, out of mana or interrupted, it stays on that step.
  • It doesn't know when a spell has worn off. After Immolate, the next press starts again with Bane of Agony even if it's still on the target.
  • In the client rank 1 Immolate has a 2 sec cast; Bane of Agony is instant.

Damage and Soul Shards

Forever changed how Soul Shards drop: the client's Drain Soul tooltip says enemies it damages have a chance to give you a shard, and enemies it kills always do.

Shadowburn right now

#showtooltip Shadowburn
/stopcasting
/cast Shadowburn

What it does. Stops the spell you're casting and casts Shadowburn at once.

How to use it. Press it to finish off an enemy that's almost dead, or one that's running away.

Why it's useful. Shadowburn is instant. Finishing a slow Shadow Bolt first can let the enemy escape or heal.

Needs: Shadowburn (level 20, Destruction talent).

Usable from level 20. 53/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Shadowburn is a Destruction talent in the level 20 tier. In the client rank 1 deals 62 to 70 Shadow damage with a 15 sec cooldown.
  • In Forever, if the enemy dies within 8 sec of Shadowburn you get a Soul Shard (Classic gave you 5 sec).
  • /stopcasting throws away your current cast: don't spam this key.

Drain Soul rank 1 for shards

#showtooltip Drain Soul
/cast Drain Soul(Rank 1)

What it does. Channels rank 1 of Drain Soul, which costs little mana.

How to use it. Start it when an enemy is nearly dead and let it finish the enemy off.

Why it's useful. Only the kill matters for the shard, so a cheap rank does the job and saves your mana.

Needs: Drain Soul (Rank 1, level 10).

Usable from level 10. 48/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client Drain Soul rank 1 costs 55 mana and deals 85 Shadow damage over 15 sec. An enemy it kills always gives a Soul Shard, and one it damages has a chance to.
  • The kill has to be an enemy worth experience (the tooltip says "non-trivial").
  • Typed as the client's spellbook writes it: Drain Soul(Rank 1), with no space before the bracket.

Rain of Fire at your cursor

#showtooltip Rain of Fire
/cast [@cursor] Rain of Fire

What it does. Channels Rain of Fire where your mouse points, with no targeting circle to place.

How to use it. Point at the middle of the pack and press it. Don't move until the channel ends.

Why it's useful. The spell lands where you're already looking, even when the pack moves.

Needs: Rain of Fire (level 20).

Usable from level 20. 54/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client rank 1 (level 20) deals 160 Fire damage over 8 sec and costs 295 mana, so save it for packs.
  • Moving stops the channel.

Healthstones and soulstones

In the client soulstones share a 30 min cooldown (spell category 831), and healthstones share a 2 min cooldown (category 1153) with a Mage's mana gems.

Soulstone the healer

#showtooltip {STONE}
/use [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] {STONE}

What it does. Uses your soulstone on the friend under your mouse, or on your friendly target, or on yourself if neither.

How to use it. Type the soulstone you carry in the box. Before a hard pull or a boss, point at the healer's frame and press it.

Why it's useful. A soulstone on the healer means a wipe can become a win, and mouseover saves you targeting the healer and back.

Needs: Create Soulstone (level 18), Minor Soulstone.

Usable from level 18. 88/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • Using a soulstone is a 3 sec cast with 30 yards range in the client, and the stored soul lasts 30 min.
  • It must go on before the player dies: the macro skips dead players.
  • You make the first stone, the Minor Soulstone, with Create Soulstone at level 18.

Create a healthstone, or a soulstone with Shift

#showtooltip
/cast [mod:shift] Create Soulstone; Create Healthstone

What it does. Makes a healthstone, or a soulstone while you hold Shift. The highest rank you know is used.

How to use it. Press it between pulls. Trade healthstones to your group.

Why it's useful. Two spells you only cast out of combat share one bar slot.

Needs: Create Soulstone (level 18), Create Healthstone (level 10).

Usable from level 10. 67/255 characters. Not yet tested in the beta.

  • In the client Create Healthstone rank 1 (level 10) makes a Minor Healthstone that restores 120 health. Both spells have a 3 sec cast.
  • Conjured items disappear if you're logged out for more than 15 minutes.
  • Create Soulstone needs level 18; without it Shift does nothing.
