A Paladin quest chain in Northern Darkshore rewards the Cloak of the Divine Storm, reported Alliance-only for now

· ForeverDB
Wowhead reports a returning Season of Discovery Paladin quest chain, starting in Northern Darkshore, that hands out a cloak named after the Divine Storm ability. The cloak and the ability are both in the Forever beta client files; the quest route and the Alliance-only limit are Wowhead's report, not a Blizzard statement.
Wowhead reports that a Paladin quest chain has turned up on the WoW Forever beta, starting at the Tower of Althalaxx in Northern Darkshore, that rewards the Cloak of the Divine Storm. Wowhead ties it to Season of Discovery class quests returning, and says the chain is only doable by the Alliance at the moment.
The quest route and the Alliance-only limit come from Wowhead, not from a Blizzard change or statement. What we can confirm below is what is in the beta client files: the cloak itself, the Divine Storm ability it is named after, and the quest's starting item.
What the client shows
Cloak of the Divine Storm is in the beta client files. It is a rare (blue) back-slot cloak at item level 35, binds when picked up, and gives 26 armour, +5 Stamina, +5 Strength and +8 Holy damage. The Strength and Holy damage point it at a melee Paladin rather than a healer.
The ability it is named after is also in the files. Divine Storm is an instant weapon attack: "An instant weapon attack that causes 110% of weapon damage to up to 4 enemies within 8 yards. The Divine Storm heals up to 3 party or raid members totaling 25% of the damage caused." Divine Storm was a Paladin rune in Season of Discovery.
The quest's starting item is in the files too: the client includes an Althalaxx Orb item, which matches the orb Wowhead says begins the chain.
The chain, as Wowhead describes it
Wowhead lists the full route. The opening steps it gives are:
- In Northern Darkshore, climb to the top of the Tower of Althalaxx and loot the Strange Orb (around 56.2, 26.5) to receive the Althalaxx Orb. This starts the quest "A Strange Artifact".
- Take the Althalaxx Orb to Delgren the Purifier in Ashenvale (around 26.2, 38.6) to pick up the next quest in the chain.
Both zones are in Alliance territory, which fits Wowhead's note that the chain is currently Alliance-only. We cannot check a faction restriction in the client data here, so treat that as Wowhead's report. The full chain is on Wowhead.
A Season of Discovery leftover
Blizzard's own beta notes have already touched on Season of Discovery runes being present in the files. In the September 24 development notes, posted by Kaivax, the fixes list included:
Fixed an issue that made a Season of Discovery rune ability visible. Developers' notes, posted by Kaivax (Community Manager)
That tells us Season of Discovery content sits in the client and Blizzard is managing what shows. It does not confirm the quest chain or the Alliance-only limit, which remain Wowhead's report.
This is beta data. The cloak, the ability and the orb are in the current build's files, but any of it can still change, be removed or be opened to both factions before launch.
