Wowhead says the Night Watchman's Torch now shows on shapeshifted Druids

Wowhead reports that in a recent beta build the Night Watchman's Torch finally shows properly when a Druid is in cat or bear form, after a viral Reddit request. Blizzard has not said so, but its notes of 1 and 8 October did fix two other problems with the torch.

The report

Wowhead reports that in a recent WoW Forever beta build the Night Watchman's Torch now shows correctly on a Druid in cat or bear form, instead of clipping into the model. Wowhead says the change answers a viral Reddit post that asked Blizzard to let bears and cats carry the torch in their mouths.

Player reports, not a Blizzard change or statement. Blizzard has not posted about how the torch looks in Druid forms. A model or animation change like this sits in the client's art files, which ForeverDB doesn't extract, so we cannot confirm it from the data we read.

What the torch is

The Night Watchman's Torch is an uncommon item datamined from the Forever beta client. Using it casts Night Watchman's Torch, which gives a five minute effect described in the client as "Holding the Night Watchman's Torch." The effect ends as soon as you enter combat. So it is a light source you carry at night, not a weapon.

What Blizzard actually changed

Blizzard's own torch changes are in the WoW Forever Beta Development Notes updated October 8, posted by Kaivax. One line there mentions the torch, under Quests:

The Night Watchman’s Torch no longer has a visible aura on the players it is illuminating, only the torch bearer. Kaivax, Community Manager

And under Bug Fixes in the earlier notes, updated on 1 October:

Fixed an issue where the Night Watchman’s Torch was causing some unintended lag in certain situations and could not be cancelled. Kaivax, Community Manager

Neither line mentions Druid forms or how the torch is held. So the look on shapeshifted Druids rests on the player report above, not on anything Blizzard has written.

This is a beta. The torch, its effect and its look can still change before launch.
