Gnome Warrior: your first 10 levels
Updated · ForeverDB
A gentle start for a Gnome Warrior in WoW Forever: where your trainer stands in Coldridge Valley, your spells up to level 10, your class quests, the racials that help and the best professions.
Written for the WoW Forever beta, for your first 10 levels. Where each person stands comes from what players recorded in WoW Forever wherever we have it. Anything else is marked: "Classic data" means the spot comes from the original game and may have moved in Forever.
Right now
Welcome! You're a Gnome Warrior, and you start in Coldridge Valley. Here are the three things you need first. Take your time: nothing here is in a rush.
- You appear at 29.9, 72.0 in Coldridge Valley.
- Your first quest: talk to Sten Stoutarm (29.9, 71.3), 20 yards north of where you appear.
- Your Warrior trainer is Thran Khorman at 28.8, 67.2, 165 yards north of where you appear (Classic data, may differ in Forever). Walk: 270 yards, 40 sec.
- Your class quest: Sten Stoutarm also has Simple Memorandum for you. It sends you to your trainer, and it's free experience.
Tip: If you die, that's fine: everyone does. Click Release Spirit, run back to your body as a ghost, and carry on. Fight one enemy at a time and eat or drink between fights.
Playing a Warrior at first
You fight up close with a weapon and a lot of armor. Instead of mana you use Rage: it fills up when you hit and get hit, and you spend it on your attacks.
- Walk up to an enemy and attack. Once you have some Rage, press Heroic Strike.
- Keep Battle Shout on you. It makes you (and friends near you) hit harder.
- From level 4, start each fight with Charge from a distance. It rushes you in and gives you Rage.
Tip: You can't heal yourself, so eat food between fights. That's normal for a Warrior.
Tip: A better weapon is the biggest upgrade you can get. Check the weapon vendor and your quest rewards.
Your spells up to level 10
You start with your level 1 spells. The rest you learn from your trainer, for a few coins, at levels 4, 6, 8, 10. A few come from class quests instead. From the WoW Forever game client:

Your racials as a Warrior
- Eureka!: Some of your attacks cost less and hit harder.
Professions
For a Warrior, the best pair is Blacksmithing and Mining. Blacksmithing makes mail armor and weapons you can wear, and sharpening stones for your weapon. Mining digs up the ore Blacksmithing needs, and spare ore sells well. As a Gnome, Engineering Specialization also helps with Engineering.
Tip: Not sure yet? Pick two gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining or Skinning). They make money from the very first herb, vein or beast, and you can swap one for a crafting profession later. Dropping a profession loses its skill, so decide before you've raised it far.
More on this: the best professions for each class.
After level 10
At level 10 you get your first talent point. Our Warrior leveling guide takes you on from there, and the leveling guide shows where to go next. Your first dungeon comes a bit later: see your first dungeon.
