Gnome Priest: your first 10 levels
Updated · ForeverDB
A gentle start for a Gnome Priest in WoW Forever: where your trainer stands in Coldridge Valley, your spells up to level 10, your class quests, the racials that help and the best professions.
Written for the WoW Forever beta, for your first 10 levels. Where each person stands comes from what players recorded in WoW Forever wherever we have it. Anything else is marked: "Classic data" means the spot comes from the original game and may have moved in Forever.
Right now
Welcome! You're a Gnome Priest, and you start in Coldridge Valley. Here are the three things you need first. Take your time: nothing here is in a rush.
- You appear at 29.9, 72.0 in Coldridge Valley.
- Your first quest: talk to Sten Stoutarm (29.9, 71.3), 20 yards north of where you appear.
- Your Priest trainer is Branstock Khalder at 28.6, 66.4, 195 yards north of where you appear (Classic data, may differ in Forever). Walk: 285 yards, 40 sec.
- Your class quest: Gently Shaken Gift also has A Gently Shaken Gift for you. It sends you to your trainer, and it's free experience.
Tip: If you die, that's fine: everyone does. Click Release Spirit, run back to your body as a ghost, and carry on. Fight one enemy at a time and eat or drink between fights.
Playing a Priest at first
You're a healer and a caster. You heal yourself and your friends, and you hurt enemies with holy and shadow magic. You use mana.
- Cast Smite on enemies to damage them.
- Heal yourself with Lesser Heal when you need it.
- Keep Power Word: Fortitude on yourself. It gives you more health.
Tip: From level 4, open with Shadow Word: Pain: it hurts the enemy over time while you cast.
Tip: From level 6, put Power Word: Shield on yourself before a fight. The shield soaks up some of the damage.
Your spells up to level 10
You start with your level 1 spells. The rest you learn from your trainer, for a few coins, at levels 4, 6, 8, 10. A few come from class quests instead. From the WoW Forever game client:

Your racials as a Priest
- Escape Artist: Frees you from roots and slows. Great for anyone who needs to keep their distance.
- Eureka!: Some of your attacks cost less and hit harder.
- Expansive Mind: More maximum mana, so you can cast longer.
Professions
For a Priest, the best pair is Tailoring and Enchanting. Tailoring makes cloth armor you can wear from the cloth that enemies drop. Enchanting turns gear you don't need into magic dust that makes your gear better, and it makes wands. As a Gnome, Engineering Specialization also helps with Engineering.
Tip: Not sure yet? Pick two gathering professions (Herbalism, Mining or Skinning). They make money from the very first herb, vein or beast, and you can swap one for a crafting profession later. Dropping a profession loses its skill, so decide before you've raised it far.
More on this: the best professions for each class.
After level 10
At level 10 you get your first talent point. Our Priest leveling guide takes you on from there, and the leveling guide shows where to go next. Your first dungeon comes a bit later: see your first dungeon.
