3D world explorer: WoW Forever in 3D
Fly or walk over the real terrain of World of Warcraft: Forever in your browser, with no game installed: the hills, coasts, rivers and lakes of every zone, painted with the game's own minimap art, as the client draws them.
It is a preview: buildings, trees and other models come next. The terrain, water and art are datamined from the WoW Forever beta client (build 1.60.1.70450), so the new Forever zones are in place.
Maps in 3D
- Kalimdor: 988 terrain tiles of 533 yards
- Eastern Kingdoms: 736 terrain tiles of 533 yards
- Zephras Isle: 72 terrain tiles of 533 yards
- Darkspear Islands: 25 terrain tiles of 533 yards
How to use it
- Fly anywhere, or walk on the ground at running speed. Drag the view to look around; move with the buttons on the view or W, A, S, D and the arrow keys. On a phone, drag to look and pinch to move.
- Go to a zone or place: type a zone, town or dungeon and the camera flies there. Whole map shows the continent from above.
- This spot names the zone and area under the crosshair with its map position (the x, y the rest of ForeverDB uses), and opens the same spot on the 2D world map.
- Copy a link to this view shares exactly where you are and where you're looking.
What's on the ground
- Dungeon and raid entrances, towns and landmarks, and flight masters, each with a card linking to its guide on ForeverDB.
- Rare spawns, graveyards, quest givers, herbs and ore when you switch them on, from the 2D map's layers: each says where it comes from (the Forever client, Classic positions not yet seen in Forever, or players' sightings).
- Zone names and town names over the terrain, and water coloured by type: water, ocean, lava and slime.
Where the data comes from
Heights, holes and water come from the client's terrain files (ADT tiles: MCNK height grids and MH2O liquids), the art from its minimap textures, zone and area names from its AreaTable, all from the WoW Forever client build 1.60.1.70450. Nothing is filled in from Classic: a pin from Classic data says so on its card.
Need the flat map instead? The 2D world map has every zone's level range, flight paths and more layers.
