What the Forever beta client and official posts reveal for Hunters: 12 new abilities, 38 new class items.

Speculation. This outlook is built from datamined Forever beta client data (build 1.60.1.70170) and official Blizzard posts. The beta is capped at level 30; anything above that isn't playable yet and can change.

What Blizzard changed this week

From the official WoW Forever Beta Development Notes – Updated September 24 (Kaivax, 2026-09-24):

Pets

  • Furious Howl Attack Power bonus reduced 40%.
  • Sonic Blast ability now properly available to Bat pets.
  • Tame Beast no longer works on Beasts that are higher than the Hunter’s level.

Marksmanship

  • Talenting out of Lone Wolf will no longer cause the Hunter to have -4% damage while their pet is active.

Survival

  • Corrected an issue and now Lacerating Strikes can land critical hits.
  • Strider Kick now increases movement speed by 30% for 3 seconds.

New abilities in the client

12 Hunter abilities exist in the Forever client but not in Classic Era:

  • Dismember — level 1 — available in the beta now. Viciously bites enemy appendages for 50 to 58 damage and reduces the effectiveness of any healing by 50% for 10 sec.
  • Dust Cloud — level 1 — available in the beta now. Your tallstrider kicks up an abrasive cloud of dust, reducing the target's Armor by 505 for 30 sec, stacking up to 1 times.
  • Mine! — level 1 — available in the beta now. Grabs an enemy's weapon with its talons, causing 41 to 47 damage and disarming them for 4 sec.
  • Pinch — level 1 — available in the beta now. Pinches an enemy's legs for 88 to 102 damage and reduces movement speed by 50% for 9 sec.
  • Savage Rend — level 1 — available in the beta now. Slash an enemy with razor talons, causing the target to Bleed for 156 damage over 18 sec and take ?% additional damage from Bleed effects for the duration.
  • Swipe — level 1 — available in the beta now. Swipe 3 nearby enemies, inflicting 20 to 22 damage.
  • Tendon Rip — level 1 — available in the beta now. Tears at an enemy's legs for 60 damage over 9 sec and reduces movement speed by 50% for 9 sec.
  • Web — level 1 — available in the beta now. Entangles an enemy in a corrosive web, immobilizing them and dealing 52 Nature damage over 4 sec.
  • Trickster's Dance — level 20 — available in the beta now.
  • Aspect of the Beast — level 30 — available in the beta now. The hunter takes on the aspects of a beast, becoming untrackable and increasing Melee Attack Power by 110.
  • Lacerate — level 30 — available in the beta now (a former Season of Discovery rune, now a class ability). Wounds the target causing them to bleed for 406 damage over 21 sec.
  • Thunderstomp — level 30 — available in the beta now.

What levels 31 to 40 bring

Speculation: Blizzard hasn't announced the next level cap or when it comes. Forever's caps have gone up ten levels at a time so far, so this is what levels 31 to 40 hold in the client.

Talent trees

Hunter-only gear that's new in Forever

Our read (speculation)

The level 30 cap looks built around Survival's melee side. Lacerate (a former Season of Discovery rune) and a new version of Aspect of the Beast that adds melee attack power come from the trainer at 30, and Strider Kick is a tier 5 Survival talent that a level 30 Hunter reaches by putting every point into Survival. This week's notes touch the same toolkit: Strider Kick now gives a short burst of speed and Lacerating Strikes can now crit. The talent window confirms where the spec is heading: Lacerating Strikes is Survival's level 40 capstone and puts a bleed on every Mongoose Bite, and Expose Prey above it lets attacks on a target with Hunter's Mark enable Mongoose Bite without a dodge.

Pets are getting attention as well. The client adds a batch of Beast Training skills such as Dust Cloud for tallstriders, Pinch, Web and Savage Rend, and the notes fix Sonic Blast for bats and cut Furious Howl's attack power bonus, so which beast you tame could matter more for utility. Summon Hawk is a tier 4 Beast Mastery talent from level 25, a separate helper that shares its cooldown with Arcane Shot, and Unleashed Fury and Ferocity boost pets and hawks together, which suggests the hawk adds to your pet rather than replacing it. The Lone Wolf fix points the other way: it's a tier 3 Marksmanship talent worth 20% more damage while you have no pet out, a real petless option.

Marksmanship gets Trueshot Aura as a tier 4 talent at 25, new mana tools in Rapid Killing and Rapid Recuperation, and Sniper Shot, a new 4 sec cast shot, as its level 40 capstone. Aimed Shot is no longer a talent at all: every Hunter learns it from the trainer at 20, and it shares its cooldown with Multi-Shot. Tame Beast no longer works on beasts above the Hunter's level, which rules out taming a stronger pet early. Human Hunters and Skyborne Hunters on both factions widen the race choice, and the Deep Dive recap notes that merged hit chance helps Hunters make Traps more reliable. The 38 Hunter-only items are all level 45 or higher and mostly named after PvP ranks, so they won't matter at current levels.
