Blizzard announces Forging Forever: Taldramir, the Whispering Wood is Forever's first Legendary; the Pouch of Violet Dust Twitch Drop confirmed

· ForeverDB
Blizzard has officially announced Taldramir, the Whispering Wood as WoW: Forever's first Legendary in the 5 November "Forging Forever" video, made with Wētā and meant for players to wield; no class or stats were given, and the staff isn't in the client files yet. Blizzard also confirmed the Pouch of Violet Dust toy as a launch-week Twitch Drop: watch four hours of eligible WoW streams between 4 and 12 November to claim it. The toy turns a campfire purple and doubles camp benefits to two hours, and it only works until early December.
Corrected 5 November 2026: we called the game's client the beta client. The beta ended on 23 October; since 4 November the client (build 1.60.1.70790) is the live game's.
Blizzard confirms Taldramir: the Forging Forever video (Update, 6 November)
On 5 November Blizzard posted an official announcement, WoW: Forever– Watch Forging Forever, with a video about the making of the staff. This is the Blizzard confirmation we were waiting for: until now Taldramir had only been reported by Wowhead from the 4 November stream.

So three things are now official from Blizzard: Taldramir, the Whispering Wood is Forever's first Legendary; it was made with Wētā; and it is meant to be wielded by players ("adventurers like you"), not an NPC-only weapon. Blizzard's post gives no class, level or stats, and no word on how you get it.
The post calls the video "the creation" of the staff and credits Wētā. It does not say in the post whether Wētā built a physical staff or a digital model, so we're not stating either as fact. We still can't find Taldramir in the Forever client files; it isn't in items.json, so there is nothing to check in-game yet.
Blizzard confirms the Twitch Drop (Update, 5 November)
Blizzard has posted an official announcement for the toy, Set Your Campfire Ablaze with the Pouch of Violet Dust!. Watch four hours of any eligible World of Warcraft stream on Twitch during launch week to claim Pouch of Violet Dust.
Watch any eligible World of Warcraft stream on Twitch.tv from November 4 at 4:30 pm PST to November 12 at 4:30 pm PST to claim the Pouch of Violet Dust Toy. Blizzard Entertainment (Blizzard News)
Blizzard describes what the toy does to a campfire:
The Pouch of Violet Dust toy allows players to turn a campfire purple, increasing the duration of all camp benefits by 1 hour (for a total of a 2-hour duration). Once activated, this benefit is shared, and any other players resting at the Camp will receive the same duration extension. Blizzard Entertainment (Blizzard News)
It is a launch-only toy. Blizzard says it can only be used during the WoW: Forever Launch Celebration, and after that it goes away for good:
This ephemeral item is available only within WoW: Forever and can only be used during the “WoW: Forever Launch Celebration” event period, which expires in early December. After that point, the toy will be removed from players’ collections and will no longer be available in game. Blizzard Entertainment (Blizzard News)
How to claim it
- Link your Twitch account at account.battle.net/connections, or link YouTube through the YouTube Connected Apps page. On Twitch you can watch any eligible channel in the World of Warcraft category and switch channels without losing progress; on YouTube you have to watch the official World of Warcraft channel the whole time.
- Claim the drop on the channel or in the Drops Inventory on Twitch. YouTube rewards arrive in-game automatically if your Battle.net and YouTube accounts are connected while you watch.
- It can take up to 24 hours to get the toy in-game after you claim. Log into the Battle.net region you want it on first, because that first region is where it is delivered.
- If you relink a new Twitch account there is a 7-day cooldown. An earned Twitch Drop expires 7 days after you claim it if no Battle.net account is linked.
- Blizzard lists North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand as eligible for the Twitch Drop (and Korea for the YouTube reward).
On 4 November Wowhead reported a secret drop page that ended that afternoon. Blizzard's 5 November post is the official version and runs the window to 12 November, 4:30 pm PST. Blizzard adds it can change, pause or cancel the drop if it can't run as planned.
The toy in the client: Pouch of Violet Dust
We can check the toy itself in the Forever files. The client has Pouch of Violet Dust, a rare toy added in build 1.60.1.70755. Its use is Throw Violet Dust, “Throw a handful into the campfire, transforming its flames”, which lights the fire with Violet Flames. Its flavour text reads Many gathered. Many watched. The tooltip says it requires the WoW: Forever Launch Celebration. The files don't carry the camp-benefit numbers; the one-hour extension comes from Blizzard's post above.
Wowhead first reported this toy was handed out as a Twitch Drop to people watching the crafting stream, at the moment the staff was revealed, with a drop page that listed an end of Wednesday 4 November, 1:59 PM PST / 4:59 PM EST. Blizzard's post now sets the proper window.
We can see the toy in the client files. How it is given out (the Twitch Drop, the dates, the camp-benefit extension) comes from Blizzard's post; the files can't show that.
How Wowhead first reported the stream and the staff
Before Blizzard's post, Wowhead reported that at the end of a Warcraft Twitch stream on 4 November, Blizzard revealed Taldramir, the Whispering Wood, which it described as a two-handed Legendary staff with a Druid theme. Wowhead said Blizzard gave no details on class restrictions or effects, and that the staff appears in the Skyborne Key art.
Blizzard has now officially announced Taldramir (see the Forging Forever section above, 5 November). Blizzard's own post still gives no class restriction or stats, and we can't find the staff in the Forever client files. The two-handed staff and the Druid theme are Wowhead reading the art, not confirmed by Blizzard.
Wowhead also reported the stream went live around 7:30 AM with no announcement, titled “Camelot_reveal v2_final.mp4”, and showed something being built; a Twitch blog pointed viewers to a “major reveal”. Everything in this paragraph comes from Wowhead's coverage of that stream.
What it sits next to
The toy's launch celebration requirement lines up with other event items already in the client, such as Elixir of Endless Experience, the Elixir of Endless Experience, which increases experience gained by 200% for an hour. Those are all tagged as event items in the files.
