Blizzard adds an RP-PvP ruleset to WoW Forever for launch on November 4

After saying on the WoW Forever Podcast that they had concerns about it, Blizzard now say they will add a Roleplay-PvP ruleset when the game launches on November 4. You will be able to pick it and reserve names from October 27.

On October 22 Blizzard developer Aggrend posted on the forums that WoW Forever will get a Roleplay-PvP ruleset at launch. The game launches on November 4.

Blizzard had sounded cautious about it. In their post they say they raised concerns on a recent WoW Forever Podcast, but kept talking it over and watching what players said.

In a recent episode of the WoW Forever Podcast we discussed some of our concerns with adding a Roleplay-PVP ruleset in WoW Forever, but we also mentioned that we were still discussing the topic internally and watching player feedback. Picking it and reserving names

Blizzard say you will be able to choose the ruleset and reserve a name on it when name reservations open.

We’re also working hard to make it so that you can select the Roleplay-PvP ruleset and reserve names there next week when our Name Reservation period begins on Tuesday, October 27. Aggrend, WoW Game Developer

So the dates to note are October 27 for name reservations and November 4 for launch.

What RP-PvP has meant

Blizzard's post does not spell out the rules. For comparison, in the original game RP-PvP realms combined roleplay naming rules with open-world PvP in contested zones, so the ruleset mixed a roleplay server's name policy with a PvP server's world combat. Blizzard have not said how WoW Forever's version will work, so treat the details as unknown until they post them.

Speculation. The description of how RP-PvP worked is drawn from the original game for comparison. Blizzard have not described WoW Forever's ruleset, so the exact rules are not confirmed.

This is a server ruleset set on Blizzard's side, so there is nothing in the beta client files to check. Wowhead also reported the announcement.
