Hunter in WoW: Forever: what the datamine says is coming
· ForeverDB
What the Forever beta client and official posts reveal for Hunters: 15 new abilities, 2 reworked talent slots, 38 new class items.
Speculation. This outlook is built from datamined Forever beta client data (build 1.60.1.70009) and official Blizzard posts. The beta is capped at level 20; anything above that isn't playable yet and can change.

What the level 30 cap should unlock
- Talent points go from 11 to 21, which opens talent tier 5 of a tree (up from tier 3).
- New abilities between level 21 and 30: Scorpid Sting (22), Beast Lore (24), Track Hidden (24), Summon Hawk (25), Rapid Fire (26), Track Elementals (26), Frost Trap (28), Aspect of the Beast (30), Dash (30), Dive (30), Feign Death (30), Lacerate (30), Prowl (30), Strider Kick (30), Thunderstomp (30).
- 29 higher ranks of existing abilities also become trainable in that range.
- Talents that come into reach include Improved Feign Death, Surefooted, Counterattack, Killer Instinct, Survival Tactics, Barrage, Improved Serpent Sting, Mortal Shots, Scatter Shot, Improved Mend Pet, Intimidation, Spirit Bond.
Talent trees
- 2 talent slots (Marksmanship tier 5, Survival tier 7) point to spells that have no record in the client. The talent is still in the tree, but its name and effect are defined server-side, which usually means it was reworked.

Our read (speculation)
The level 30 cap looks built around Survival's melee side. Lacerate (a former Season of Discovery rune), Strider Kick and a new version of Aspect of the Beast that adds melee attack power all arrive at 30, and this week's notes touch the same toolkit: Strider Kick now gives a short burst of speed and Lacerating Strikes can now crit. Survival's tier 7 capstone is one of the two server-side talent slots, and given where the spec is heading we'd guess it's melee-flavored too, though nothing confirms that yet and it stays out of reach until level 40.
Pets are getting attention as well. The client adds a batch of Beast Training skills such as Dust Cloud for tallstriders, Pinch, Web and Savage Rend, and the notes fix Sonic Blast for bats and cut Furious Howl's attack power bonus, so which beast you tame could matter more for utility. Summon Hawk at 25 is a separate helper that shares its cooldown with Arcane Shot, and Beast Mastery talents in the client already boost pets and hawks together, which suggests the hawk adds to your pet rather than replacing it. The Lone Wolf fix in Marksmanship hints at a petless option there.
Marksmanship's server-side slot sits in tier 5, so it should open at 30, with Sniper Shot, a new ranged shot, following at 40. Tame Beast no longer works on beasts above the Hunter's level, which rules out taming a stronger pet early. Human Hunters and Skyborne Hunters on both factions widen the race choice, and the Deep Dive recap notes that merged hit chance helps Hunters make Traps more reliable. The 38 Hunter-only items are all level 45 or higher and mostly named after PvP ranks, so they won't matter at current levels.
