Launch-day fixes: Invite-a-Friend restrictions lifted, portals added near transport docks, city numbers to be tweaked

· ForeverDB
A hotfix removed the restrictions that had stopped Invite-a-Friend players from chatting, grouping, trading and leveling past 10. Blizzard has also put temporary portals near transport docks while boats and zeppelins get lost, and says it will tweak numbers to make quiet areas feel busier.
Three short posts from Blizzard on launch day cover three separate problems: players who joined through an Invite-a-Friend Code, boats and zeppelins getting lost between continents, and some cities feeling empty.
Invite-a-Friend restrictions lifted
Players who joined WoW Forever with an Invite-a-Friend Code were locked out of several basic features. Community Manager Kaivax posted that a hotfix is now live:
With a hotfix that is now live, we’ve fixed an issue where players who joined WoW Forever by using an Invite-a-Friend Code were unexpectedly restricted from using certain chat channels, leveling past 10, participating in guilds, forming parties, or trading items with other players. If you experienced this, you may wish to log out and back into WoW Forever. Thank you! Kaivax, Community Manager
If this hit you, log out and back in to pick up the fix.
Portals near transport docks while boats and zeppelins get lost
Boats and zeppelins have been getting stuck between continents. Game Developer Aggrend replied on the forums that Blizzard has added portals as a temporary way across:
Hi There, We are aware of some issues with transports such as boats and zeppelins becoming lost in the maelstrom for extended periods of time. As a temporary fix, we’ve spawned portals near most transport docks or inside of the zeppelin towers to help you move between continents if your boat gets lost. We have a proper fix going out in the morning, and once we’ve verified that’s in and working, we’ll be removing those portals. Hope this helps. Thank you! Aggrend, WoW Game Developer
So if your boat or zeppelin never arrives, look for a portal near the dock or inside the zeppelin tower. These are temporary. Blizzard plans a proper fix in the morning and will remove the portals once it is confirmed working.
City numbers to be tweaked
Some areas have felt quieter than they should. Aggrend replied to a thread about seeing only a handful of people in a main city:
Hi There, Just wanted to chime in and say that we are aware of some issues with certain areas not feeling as populated as they should. We will be tweaking some numbers tomorrow to help things feel a bit more lively. Thanks for the feedback on this one! Aggrend, WoW Game Developer
Blizzard says the change is coming the next day. The post doesn't give any numbers or say which areas are affected.
All three are beta launch-day fixes. The portals near transport docks are temporary and will be removed once the proper transport fix is in.
