Players report the Cauldron Stirrer hitting for less than the client files say

· ForeverDB
Players' ForeverDB addons saw the Barrens quest staff Cauldron Stirrer with 18 to 28 damage, lower than the 25 to 38 in the Forever beta client's files. Blizzard hasn't announced a change.
Player reports, not confirmed by Blizzard. The 18 to 28 figure below is what players' ForeverDB addons saw in the game, not the client data and not a Blizzard post. The client files still list the old value.
Cauldron Stirrer (Cauldron Stirrer) is an uncommon two-handed staff in the WoW Forever beta. It is the reward from the Barrens Horde quest "Apothecary Zamah", the end of the Fungal Spores chain, which you hand in to Apothecary Zamah in Thunder Bluff at around level 15.
What the client files have
- Damage 25 to 38, speed 3.10 (about 10.2 damage per second).
- +4 Stamina, and Equip: increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 8.
- Item level 15, binds when picked up. A caster staff, handed out as a fixed reward (the other reward options are potions).
What players reported
Players' addons saw the staff in the game with 18 to 28 damage instead of 25 to 38, with the same 3.10 speed. That lowers its weapon damage to about 7.4 per second. It was seen this way by 2 players in 2 uploads between 7 and 10 October. Its Stamina and the +8 spell damage and healing were unchanged in what they saw.
Speculation. The two figures differ, so Blizzard may have cut the staff's weapon damage in a server-side or build change that the files we track haven't caught up with, or the reports could be a reading error. We can't tell which from the game files, because they still show 25 to 38. The reason, if there was a change, is not stated anywhere we track.
The weapon damage on a caster staff like this matters little for spellcasting, so even if the drop is real it changes almost nothing for a caster using it. We'll update this page if a Blizzard post or a new build settles it. See the live staff on its item page.
