Blizzard confirmed a one-time, 24-hour celebration across seven zones for the final day of the beta, which closed on Friday, October 23. Wowhead reports the chaos included a vendor selling fun consumables, world bosses in the starting zones dropping legendaries, and a Scourge invasion. The event is gone now; the game launches on November 4.

Blizzard's own announcement: a one-time celebration

On October 22, Kaivax posted that Blizzard would see the beta off with a day of mayhem. This is the Blizzard source for the event.

The WoW Forever Beta will end 24 hours from now, at 10:00 a.m. PDT on Friday, October 23, and until that fateful moment, we’re celebrating the joy and wonder of WoW Forever with 24 hours of shenanigans and upheaval in Zephras Isle, Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Teldrassil, Durotar, Tirisfal Glades, and Mulgore. Kaivax, Community Manager

Those are the starting zones, plus the Skyborne zone Zephras Isle. Blizzard told players to log in one last time and warned that the content was for that day only.

Please note: Shenanigans and upheaval in this one-time-only celebration almost certainly include items and experiences that will not be a part of WoW Forever after it launches on November 4. Kaivax, Community Manager

The beta then closed on schedule. On October 23, Kaivax confirmed it was over after five weeks of testing.

The WoW Forever Beta is now closed, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us over the last five weeks of playtesting, data gathering, bug reporting, and feedback. Kaivax, Community Manager

What players found in the zones

Blizzard's post named the zones but not what was in them. Wowhead reported the details: a new NPC stood in front of the capital cities selling fun consumables, said to include fireworks, a scroll that raised movement speed for you and nearby players, and a potion that increased experience gained by 200%. In the starting zones players found world bosses: Azuregos, "Super" Hogger, Voracious, Thunderaan and Lord Kazzak. Wowhead's report is also titled around a Scourge invasion.

The vendor, the consumables, the world bosses and the Scourge invasion are reported by Wowhead, not named in Blizzard's post. We could not check the consumables against the client files because we have no item ids for them.

Wowhead says beating the bosses dropped familiar legendaries, including Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros and Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, and that players could farm full Classic Tier 1 sets.

Both weapons are in the Forever beta client as level 60 legendary (quality 5) items, so the names and quality check out. The files can't confirm the event itself, because what a boss drops is decided on Blizzard's servers. In Classic Era these two are the famous Molten Core-era legendaries: Sulfuras is forged from the Eye of Sulfuras, a Ragnaros drop, and the crafted Sulfuron Hammer, while Thunderfury comes from a quest that needs both Bindings of the Windseeker from Molten Core and Elementium from Blackwing Lair.

Who dropped what during the celebration rests on Wowhead's report, not on Blizzard's post or the client files.

What it means for players

This was a sendoff, not a preview of launch. Blizzard warned that the celebration "almost certainly" included items and experiences that "will not be a part of WoW Forever after it launches on November 4". If you missed it, there is nothing to catch up on. WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026.
