Gilneas
A proud human kingdom that walled itself off from the world. In Forever's client, Gilneas exists as zones of its own, but Blizzard hasn't said a word about it. Treat it as a closed door.

- Where: South of Silverpine Forest, behind the Greymane Wall
- Status: In the client, not announced
- Label: Speculation
On the map
Areas the client names in Silverpine Forest: Dreadwatch Outpost, Emberstone Mine, Emberstone Village, Gilneas City, Hayward Fishery, Northern Headlands, Rutsak's Guard, Tempest's Reach, The Blackwald.
Speculation: Blizzard hasn't announced Gilneas for Forever in any post we track. Everything below about its future is Speculation: we only know what the client contains.
Before Forever
Warcraft background: Gilneas was one of the seven human kingdoms. Its king, Genn Greymane, left the Alliance after the Second War and built the Greymane Wall across the land bridge to Silverpine, sealing his kingdom off. In original World of Warcraft the wall was never opened; the kingdom's troubles, and the worgen, only came to light with the Cataclysm.
What the Forever client has
The client adds areas named Ruins of Gilneas, with Gilneas City inside it, and Gilneas, all on the Eastern Kingdoms continent, plus a Battle for Gilneas map with its loading screen. The Greymane Wall itself is unchanged. Our article has the details, including a player who was summoned inside on the beta.
Speculation: Whether Gilneas becomes a leveling zone, a later update or only a battleground isn't known, nor when or whether the Greymane Wall opens. The client's name "Ruins of Gilneas" hints at a Gilneas that has already suffered, but that's a reading of one name. Forever is set in its own time bubble, so Gilneas's story here need not follow the Cataclysm's.
What your character knows
Almost nothing. In Year 1 Gilneas is a wall and a rumour. Silverpine's people know the wall is there; Blizzard's news mentions only Pyrewood Village's worgen in Silverpine Forest. A Gilnean character is out of place until Blizzard opens the door.
- A Silverpine woodsman who swears he heard bells beyond the wall.
- A Forsaken scout who thinks the wall is hiding something worth knowing.
- A Stormwind noble with Gilnean cousins nobody has heard from in years.
