The Darkspear Islands

Islands off Kalimdor's coast that the trolls call ancestral and Theramore calls "so-called". Forever turns the dispute into its newest battleground.

Areas the client names in Darkspear Islands: Abandoned Tower, Camp, Ruins, Shipwreck Cove.

What it is

The Darkspear Islands are Forever's new battleground: control points, flag captures and defence, off the coast of Kalimdor.

For PvP, the Darkspear Islands will introduce a 15 vs 15 Battleground off the coast of Kalimdor, combining strategic control points with Arathi Basin-style flag captures and defense.

The quarrel

The client's two faction descriptions tell the story from each side, and the wording is the point. The trolls' side calls the islands their ancestral home; Theramore's side calls them the "so-called" Darkspear Islands. Neither side thinks the other has any right to be there.

Loyal partisans for their city, the Theramore Expeditionary Force battles the Darkspear Raiders for control of the so-called Darkspear Islands.

From the game client: Theramore Expeditionary Force, the faction description in the WoW Forever client

Warcraft background: Theramore is the human port in Dustwallow Marsh founded by Jaina Proudmoore after the Third War, and the Alliance's main foothold on Kalimdor. The Darkspear's own islands in the earlier games are the Echo Isles off Durotar.

Speculation: Where exactly the Darkspear Islands lie, and whether they are the Echo Isles or other islands, isn't in the client or Blizzard's posts. The client's map names only a camp, ruins, an abandoned tower, Shipwreck Cove and the Darkspear flag.

For roleplayers

  • A Darkspear Raider who grew up on stories of the islands and fights for them as a matter of honour.
  • A Theramore soldier who thinks the islands are strategic, not sacred, and hasn't met a troll who agrees.
  • A shipwreck survivor from Shipwreck Cove with a claim of their own.
  • Enemies who meet every Call to Arms week and have started to respect each other.
