Stitches is hostile again in WoW: Forever, a Blizzard designer says

After a recent beta build left Stitches marked as a neutral mob in Duskwood, Blizzard designer Johnny Cash has said on X that he is hostile once more. This reaches us through a developer's post reported by Wowhead, not through an official Blizzard post, and an NPC's faction is not in the beta client files we hold.

During a recent WoW: Forever beta build, players noticed that Stitches, the famous patrolling mob in Duskwood, was showing as a neutral mob rather than an enemy. Blizzard designer Johnny Cash has now said on X that this is fixed and Stitches is hostile again, as reported by Wowhead.

This reaches us through a Blizzard developer's post on X, reported by Wowhead. It is not in Blizzard's official posts or development notes, and an NPC's faction is not in the beta client data we hold, so we cannot confirm it from the game files. Johnny Cash's own X post about rejoining the WoW team as a Principal Designer backs that he is a designer on the project.

Who Stitches is

In Classic Era, Stitches is an abomination who walks the road through Duskwood and attacks anyone who gets too close, at the end of a short quest chain in Darkshire. He is one of the most recognisable low-level mobs in the game, and a hostile Stitches is how most players remember him.

What it means for players

If you are levelling through Duskwood on the beta, treat Stitches as a threat again. A neutral mob can be walked past; a hostile one will come after you. Watch the road as you travel between Darkshire and the zone's quest hubs.
