Duskwood: creators say a raid is coming, the beta client shows a 5-player dungeon

The Duskwood map from the WoW Forever client

· ForeverDB

Several creators say Blizzard has added a raid and a secret quest to Duskwood. The Forever beta client does hold a new Duskwood instance, Manor Mistmantle, but lists it as a 5-player dungeon with no bosses, loot or quests yet. Blizzard's posts don't mention it.

Speculation. This rests on community reports and on an empty instance in the beta files, not on anything Blizzard has posted. The beta client does contain a new Duskwood instance called Manor Mistmantle, but the claims that it is a raid, that there is a secret quest, or that Blizzard is 'planning' something there are not in Blizzard's posts and are not filled in by the game files yet. Treat all of it as unconfirmed.

What creators are saying

Since September 27 a few WoW Forever creators have pointed at Duskwood. WoWHub asks "What Is Blizzard Planning In Duskwood?" (September 27). Ebonhardt's video is titled "They Added a Raid to Duskwood" (September 29). Jurdi flags a "secret Duskwood quest" alongside other topics (September 29). These are the video titles as posted; we are not repeating any in-video claim as fact.

Creator videos, not a Blizzard change or statement. We link them as leads. Nothing below is taken as true just because a video says it.

The clearest, files-based description comes from Whiter, who notes the beta files call it a dungeon: "WoW Forever rebuilt a murderer's house into a horror mansion, and the beta files call it a dungeon!" (September 24). That last part matches what our own read of the client shows.

What the Forever client says

The beta client does have one new thing in Duskwood: an instance called Manor Mistmantle. The client marks it as a 5-player dungeon, not a raid. Here is the full record we can read from the files:

  • Name: Manor Mistmantle. Type: dungeon. Size: 5 players, one difficulty (Normal).
  • Where: the Manor Mistmantle area of Duskwood (map 1431). Status: Forever (new).
  • Build: unchanged in the latest beta build, 1.60.1.70170 (October 2), the one that raised the level cap to 30.
  • Bosses, loot, quests: none in the client yet. It has no boss list, no drops, no inside map and no entrance pin. Its dungeon page will fill in as players run it.
  • The name: 'Mistmantle' matches Stalvan Mistmantle, the killer from Duskwood's classic 'The Legend of Stalvan' quest chain, which is still in Forever's Duskwood quests. That fits the 'murderer's house' idea, but the client doesn't spell out the story.

So the client contradicts the word 'raid': it lists Manor Mistmantle as a 5-player dungeon. It is also close to empty. That points to something added early, with the rest still to come, but the files don't say what it will hold or when it opens.

What's confirmed and what isn't

Confirmed, from the client data:

  • A new Forever instance named Manor Mistmantle exists in the Duskwood files (still there in build 1.60.1.70170).
  • The client lists it as a 5-player dungeon on Normal difficulty, in the Manor Mistmantle area of Duskwood.

Not confirmed by Blizzard's posts or the client:

  • That it is a raid. The client says 5-player dungeon; the 'raid' label is a creator's, not Blizzard's.
  • Its bosses, layout, loot or level range. None of these are in the client yet.
  • A 'secret Duskwood quest'. The client has no quests tied to the manor, and Blizzard's posts don't mention one.
  • That Blizzard is 'planning' anything specific there. Blizzard's posts don't mention Manor Mistmantle at all.

What Blizzard's posts say about Duskwood

Blizzard has named Duskwood twice, and neither time about a dungeon. In the Deep Dive panel recap, explaining updated quest rewards, Blizzard writes:

Mor’ladim’s quest in Duskwood, for example, still offers a two-handed sword, but now also grants the Ladimore Heirloom Ring for spellcasters. Blizzard, World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap

The October 1 development notes then list Duskwood among the zones with faster creature and object respawns. That is the whole of it: no raid, no dungeon, no new questline. We'll update this page if Manor Mistmantle fills in on a later build or if Blizzard posts about it. Our addon records bosses and drops from inside as players run it, so the dungeon page will grow from real data rather than guesses.
