When is WoW Forever name reservation?
Early Name Reservation for WoW Forever opened on 27 October 2026, at 18:00 CET in Europe and 1:00 p.m. PDT in the Americas (07:00 on 28 October in Korea and Taiwan), and runs until 3 November. You can reserve names for up to three characters in total, across all rulesets, first come, first served (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
When it runs
- Europe: 27 October at 18:00 CET (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
- North America: 27 October at 1:00 p.m. PDT (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
- Korea: 28 October at 07:00 KST (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
- Taiwan: 28 October at 07:00 CST (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
- It closes for everyone on 3 November, the day before launch (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
Three characters, across every ruleset
The limit is a total, not three per ruleset: if you make two characters on the PvP ruleset, you can make only one more on Normal or Roleplaying. Blizzard says the limit only applies during Early Name Reservation (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026). Blizzard said it was working to have the new Roleplay-PvP ruleset open for reservations too (Blizzard, 22 Oct 2026).
Who can reserve
Players who pre-purchase the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the Skyborne Epic Pack or the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection. Blizzard's footnote says a World of Warcraft: Forever Digital Upgrade or the Collector's Edition is required, and the benefit only applies to the WoW account it was bought for (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
On 23 October Blizzard also wrote that it would open character creation on 27 October, "allowing everyone plenty of time" to pick a ruleset and a name (Blizzard, 23 Oct 2026). That reads wider than the pre-purchase rule above, and Blizzard hasn't said more yet: we'll update this page if it does.
How to reserve
- Update your graphics drivers (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
- Install the Battle.net desktop app, open it and let it update (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
- Pick World of Warcraft, then in the Game Version menu above the Play button choose World of Warcraft: Forever and select Install (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
- When it's installed, select Play, choose your ruleset and create up to three characters with the names you want (Blizzard, 20 Oct 2026).
Two names per character
Every character gets two names, and the full combination has to be unique within your region, so you can share a first name with someone else as long as your full name is different (Blizzard, 21 Sep 2026).
What the rules block
- Names still follow the in-game code of conduct. Some names, words, spellings and repeated-character patterns are restricted, including ones that impersonate Blizzard or the World of Warcraft team (Blizzard, 21 Sep 2026).
- The system can judge both names together, so splitting a restricted word across them won't necessarily get it through (Blizzard, 21 Sep 2026).
- If the name you want is taken or not allowed, you'll need another combination, or the random name generator (Blizzard, 21 Sep 2026).
- In the beta, Blizzard issued forced name changes and removed beta access for some names far outside the Code of Conduct, and said Customer Service won't handle appeals (Blizzard, 24 Sep 2026).

How many names can I reserve in WoW Forever?
Up to three characters in total across all rulesets during Early Name Reservation. Two on PvP leaves you one for Normal or Roleplaying.
Can I reserve a name without buying an upgrade?
Blizzard lists Early Name Reservation for players who pre-purchase the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection, on the account it was bought for. Its 23 October post said character creation would open on 27 October for everyone to pick a ruleset and a name, which Blizzard hasn't explained further yet.
Can I reserve names on the Roleplay-PvP ruleset?
Blizzard said it was working to make the Roleplay-PvP ruleset available when name reservation began on 27 October.
Are WoW Forever names unique per realm?
There's no realm list. Your full two-part name is unique within your region.
Is name reservation first come, first served?
Yes. Names are reserved first come, first served during the window, and Blizzard can't guarantee any name.
