Paladin in WoW Forever: what the datamine says is coming

Paladin talent tree paintings from the WoW Forever client

· updated · ForeverDB

The WoW Forever client and Blizzard's posts show 5 new abilities and 70 new class items for Paladins. We list them all and give our read on the class.

Speculation. This outlook is built from datamined WoW Forever client data (build 1.60.1.70707) and official Blizzard posts. The beta stopped at level 30; the game launches on 4 November with the whole of 1 to 60, and anything above level 30 is untested and can change.

What Blizzard's notes changed

Kaivax posted these Paladin changes in WoW Forever Beta Development Notes – Updated October 15 on 16 October 2026:

  • Seal of Fury is no longer overwritten by Power Word: Shield.
  • Blessing of Salvation and Greater Blessing of Salvation have been replaced with Salvation and Mass Salvation. These are applied in the same manner as the blessings were, but are not exclusive with blessings.
  • Paladins now also learn Revoke when Salvation is learned. Revoke removes target party or raid member’s Salvation or Mass Salvation.
This is to restore the functionality of giving the Paladin more finesse and control over who has Salvation active and who doesn’t. Kaivax, WoW Forever Beta Development Notes – Updated October 15
  • Judgement of Righteousness and Judgement of Fury now have the correct spell power coefficients for instant cast spells.
  • Fixed an issue causing Seal of Righteousness to gain almost twice as much benefit from Spell Damage than intended.
  • Fixed an issue where Judgement of Righteousness had an incorrect Spell Damage coefficient.
  • Consecration’s Spell Power Coefficient per tick has been changed to 0.042 (was 0.095).
  • Righteous Fury’s Holy damage threat generation increased to 90% (was 60%).
  • Seal of Fury Rank 3 is now correctly available for training at level 26 (was incorrectly level 25).

Holy

  • Fixed an issue where using a focus macro to cast Light’s Vigil was causing it to not go onto the appropriate target.
  • Fixed an issue causing Infusion of Light to grant Holy Shock 50% increased damage against enemies.

Protection

  • Shield Specialization Mana restored to the Paladin lowered to 4% with a 3 second internal cooldown (was 6% with a 3 second internal cooldown).
  • Reckoning: This talent has been adjusted so you gain a charge of Reckoning each time it triggers. Your next melee swing (auto attack) will trigger all accumulated charges for 1 extra attack each. You may have a maximum of 4 charges.
  • This restores the Classic Era functionality of storing up to 4 charges and delays all the triggers until your next swing so that it does not cause the auto attack timer to be reset by instant attacks.

Retribution

  • Champion of the Light now increases your spell damage by 10/20/30% of your Intellect (was 20/40/60%).
  • Sanctified Judgement’s Mana restore effect no longer generates threat.

New abilities in the client

These 5 Paladin abilities are in the Forever client but not in Classic Era, with what rank 1 does:

  • Holy Strike (level 6). Rank 1: An instant strike that causes 25% weapon damage plus an additional 10 to 14 as Holy damage. It has 8 ranks, the last at level 60.
  • Seal of Fury (level 10). Rank 1: Fills you with divine fury for 30 sec, causing melee attacks to deal an additional 6 Holy damage. It has 7 ranks, the last at level 58.
  • Voice of Truth (level 20). Rank 1: Grants you immunity to Silence and Interrupt effects for 6 sec.
  • Judgement of Fury (learned outside the trainer). Rank 1: Judge the target, dealing Holy damage. It has 5 ranks, the last at level 58.
  • Improved Seal of Fury (learned outside the trainer). Rank 1: When Seal of Fury's shield is fully absorbed, restore ?

What levels 31 to 40 bring

The beta stopped at level 30. WoW Forever launches on 4 November with the whole game to level 60, and this is what the client has for the next ten levels, 31 to 40.

Our read (speculation)

Protection looks like the spec with the most to gain at 30. Templar's Bulwark is its tier 5 talent, so a Protection build with 20 points in the section reaches it at exactly that level: an absorb shield equal to your maximum health that applies Forbearance, which matches the survival tool the Deep Dive recap described for tanks. Seal of Fury is trainable from level 10 and Swift Judgement, the second taunt, is a Protection talent from level 25, so by 30 a Protection Paladin should have much of that toolkit. Holy's tier 5 talent at 30 is Holy Shock, an instant heal, while Light's Vigil, which turns Holy Shock into a party heal, waits at 40.

Blizzard's 24 September notes put Holy Strike at the centre of the class. Improved Holy Strike was removed from the Holy tree and its effect made baseline, so the cooldown is now 10 seconds for everyone. Each rank now adds more weapon damage, Holy Power adds crit to it and Sacred Arbiter's bonus doubled. Every Paladin trains Holy Strike at level 6, and the client's tree has a Holy Strike talent in each section (Holy Power in Holy, Iron Creed in Protection and Sacred Arbiter in Retribution), so it looks like the one button tanks, healers and Retribution all share. Retribution itself got a trim, with fewer Vengeance stacks and a smaller Two-Handed Weapon Specialization bonus, while Twist of Light now also makes Seals cheaper.

Undead Paladins are one of Forever's new race and class combinations, and the gear leans the same way. Blade of Bandarion, a Paladin-only sword at level 47, shares its name with Bandarion Keep, where the Found Photos recap sets the Forsaken Paladin Journey. The client doesn't say where the sword drops, but we'd guess it's a reward from that storyline. Two more Paladin-only weapons, Wolfsbane and Moonsilver Blade, sit at level 26, and Tenets of the Silver Hand is a level 20 libram that adds damage against Undead, in keeping with the anti-Undead identity the Deep Dive recap stresses.
