Creators talk of a Duskwood raid, but the beta client lists a 5-player dungeon

The Duskwood map from the WoW Forever client

· ForeverDB

One creator's video title says Blizzard has added a raid to Duskwood, and another flags a secret quest there. The Forever beta client does hold a new Duskwood instance, Manor Mistmantle, but lists it as a 5-player dungeon with no bosses, loot or quests yet. Blizzard's posts don't mention it.

Speculation. Blizzard hasn't posted about this. The beta client has a new, empty Duskwood instance called Manor Mistmantle; the talk of a raid, a secret quest or Blizzard 'planning' something there comes from community reports, and neither Blizzard's posts nor the game files back it up yet.

What creators are saying

In the last week of September a few WoW Forever creators pointed at Duskwood. WoWHub asks "What Is Blizzard Planning In Duskwood?" (September 27). Ebonhardt's video is titled "They Added a Raid to Duskwood" (September 29), and Jurdi flags a "secret Duskwood quest" alongside other topics (September 29). Those are the titles as posted. These are creator videos, not Blizzard posts, so we link them as leads only and don't repeat what's said in them as fact.

The clearest description based on the files comes from Whiter, who notes the beta files call it a dungeon: "WoW Forever rebuilt a murderer's house into a horror mansion, and the beta files call it a dungeon!" (September 24). That last part matches our own read of the client.

What the Forever client says

The one new thing in the Duskwood files is an instance called Manor Mistmantle, and the client marks it as a 5-player dungeon, not a raid. This is everything the files hold on it:

  • It is a dungeon for 5 players, with one difficulty (Normal).
  • It sits in the Manor Mistmantle area of Duskwood (map 1431), flagged as new in Forever.
  • Beta build 1.60.1.70170 (October 2), the one that raised the level cap to 30, left it unchanged. (Update, 27 October: it is still an empty 5-player dungeon in the live client, build 1.60.1.70532.)
  • There are no bosses, loot or quests for it in the client yet: no boss list, no drops, no inside map and no entrance pin. Its dungeon page will fill in as players run it.
  • 'Mistmantle' matches Stalvan Mistmantle, the killer from Duskwood's classic 'The Legend of Stalvan' quest chain, which is still in Forever's Duskwood quests. That fits the 'murderer's house' idea, but the client doesn't spell out the story.

An almost empty 5-player dungeon, not a raid, looks like something added early with the rest still to come, but the files don't say what it will hold or when it opens.

What nobody has confirmed

Neither Blizzard's posts nor the client back any of these:

  • That it is a raid. The client says 5-player dungeon, and the 'raid' label comes from a creator, not Blizzard.
  • Its bosses, layout, loot or level range, none of which are in the client yet.
  • A 'secret Duskwood quest'. No quests in the client are tied to the manor, and Blizzard's posts don't mention one.
  • That Blizzard is 'planning' anything specific there. Manor Mistmantle doesn't appear in any Blizzard post.

What Blizzard's posts say about Duskwood

Blizzard has named Duskwood twice, and neither time about a raid, a dungeon or a new questline. In the Deep Dive panel recap, explaining updated quest rewards, Blizzard writes:

Mor’ladim’s quest in Duskwood, for example, still offers a two-handed sword, but now also grants the Ladimore Heirloom Ring for spellcasters. Blizzard, World of Warcraft: Forever Deep Dive Panel Recap

The October 1 development notes then list Duskwood among the zones with faster creature and object respawns. We'll update this page if Manor Mistmantle fills in on a later build or if Blizzard posts about it. Our addon records bosses and drops from inside as players run it, so the dungeon page will grow from real data rather than guesses.
